"Okay Miss LaRusso. Let's get you up onto the bed. Nice and steady," the nurse said, nudging the men aside for a moment. "I do hope neither of you gentlemen are fainters, because my focus is solely on my patient. I don't want to be stepping over unconscious men," she said, half-joking.
She pulled the screen around so that she could help Sam undress and get up onto the bed. Then she grabbed a pair of gloves and pulled them on. "Let's have a look and see where we're at." She examined Sam, giving her a bright smile. "Baby is well on the way. No time for an epidermal, but we've got gas and air if you need it."
Once she finished examining her, she pulled back the screen so Daniel and Miguel could join them. Daniel instantly moved to take hold of Sam's hand, using his free hand to smooth back her hair.
"Now, Miss LaRusso, with your next contraction I want you to start pushing, okay?"
