Kissing Scott was easy. It felt natural. It felt safe. Not safe in a chaste, unsexy kind of way, but in a way that made Daniel feel like he wasn't pressured into giving more than he was ready to. And Scott was really, really good looking and a great kisser too.
Things were going great, until suddenly they weren't.
The crying caught Daniel off-guard. But honestly, it shouldn't have surprised him. Scott had literally been running for his life not moments before. He had opened up to Daniel - a complete stranger - about what his dad did to him. A freak-out was perfectly acceptable.
"Hey, hey... It's okay. It's okay," Daniel whispered, cradling the back of Scott's head with one hand, the other making small circles on his back. "It's okay. You're safe here. You're safe. I got you."
