Daniel hadn't gotten much sleep. His knee had been bothering him without his brace and the events of the evening replayed in his mind over and over like a well-watched VHS tape. Not to mention he had been sharing the futon with Johnny.
He was busy making coffee. Hoping the caffeine would give him a much-needed boost to get through the say. Mr Miyagi had left early to go fishing, saying he'd be back in time to take Johnny to the station. Daniel half-expected him to leave a list of chores for them to work on, but he said they could wait until after seeing the police.
The day was just filling up with things to look forward to. Not.
He heard Johnny's voice and popped his head around the screen that made up the temporary partition separating the nook with the futon in from the rest of the room. It wasn't an ideal living arrangement. But it would do. For the short term.
"Hey. You're awake. I'm making coffee. You want some?"
