And Crowley probably would've found a way to murder them all in said crypt. Or even if he hadn't, they couldn't start to think about the 'what if's' and 'might've beens'. Hindsight was a curious thing. They had done the best with what they'd had at the time, even if the outcome was all kinds of screwed up. At least the demons or the psycho angels didn't have the tablet - just the broken angel.
