"You had surgery?!" Lucille gasped, and Deacon's eyesbrows rose to his hairline. "Are you kidding me, Daniel Anthony LaRusso? The kid I raised wouldn't have surgery and risk his life without telling his mother. Did Johnny know? I can't believe neither of you told me."
Johnny winced, he knew Lucille wasn't going to take the surgery news lightly. They were lucky she wasn't getting in her car right then to come down to the hospital. Johnny knew they would see her that day, though, it was a given.
"I can handle my grandchildren, Daniel. Don't worry about them. Worry about yourself. I can't believe you." She handed the phone back to Deacon. "Dad? Sorry, I didn't mean to start a fuss." Deacon replied, Matthew quiet as he adjusted to this situation.
