Abilities: Being one of Huisto’s biological weapons, Varada’s an extremely strong and durable individual. It takes a lot to hurt him. He’s also incredibly intelligent and has a command of both Tevrran and Huistonian.
His foremost ability is multi-faceted and complex. To begin with, Varada can both see and feel the energies of others very strongly. Varada’s capable of handling and manipulating that energy. Some examples of this would be drawing other’s energy out of their body and effectively disabling them, using the elements around him to attacks others, and enhancing the flow of energy within other’s bodies to heal them.
Weaknesses & Fears: Varada’s ability is tricky in that he feels and visualizes energy so strongly that it can actually inhibit his functioning. He has an easier time if he has a barrier between his eyes and the outside world; glasses or contacts do just fine for this. Some trouble still exists when he’s in larger crowds, or when others are unleashing their energies at an alarming rate. Varada’s ability can also essentially be shut down with a strong dose of energy suppressant and a blindfold in combination with one another.
Varada is actually a very timid young man with many fears. More than anything, he fears the wrath of Huisto. Unlike Kailas, who smoothly transitioned from laboratory to military, Varada has had difficulty. He’s, in essence, a failed experiment. Varada is aware that if he cannot manage his abilities properly or conform in the way Huisto wants him to, he will be killed. He’s experienced cruelty in the hands of the Huistonian scientists and has no desire to be with them or serve their military.
Varada also fears losing Kailas. He’s aware of Kailas’s illness and realizes that he’s worsening with each passing day. He’s scared that it may eventually kill him. That said, he’s also scared of driving the man away--he doesn’t want to be too clingy, or get too attached. He does everything he can not to upset Kailas and keep on his “good” side.
