Abilities: A demon with a considerable amount of strength. He's an extremely agile fighter who uses speed to take down those who threaten what's dear to him. Typically uses projectiles to fight; has a knowledge of major blood vessels, pressure points, etc.
Majorly talented cook, too. :D Weaknesses & Fears: Kanaye is extremely attached to his family and fears losing them. He's weak to his brother's knowing gaze and soft, convincing words.
Kanaye has some knowledge about Ayu's physical and psychological deterioration. To say the least, it absolutely terrifies him and he's desperate to prevent it from worsening any further. He's willing to go along with almost anything Ayu proposes in hopes to mitigating this damage.
PERSONALITY AND PLOT Personality: Kanaye is a fairly even-keeled guy. He's definitely the laid-back, hang-loose type. Or at least, this is what he portrays. Inside, Kanaye is a very uncertain young man. On the precipice of adulthood, he's really unsure about his place in the world. He sees what's happening with Ayu--his abilities improving, his health declining--and is almost entirely focused on this--there's little room for understanding himself.
This gets monumentally worse when his brother disappears. Takahiro had been a pillar for Kana, providing him with stability and reassurance. Now that he's gone, Kanaye is on unsteady footing. He feels absolutely lost without him, hollow inside, even. He holds out some hope that he's still alive, but for the most part has accepted that he's passed on. He seeks out his brother's "killers" not to take revenge, but to lay him to rest and move on.
Of course, Ayu's feelings on the matter are entirely different. Kanaye's tasked with honoring Ayu's feelings--a definite desire for revenge--while at the same time protecting him and keeping him from growing more ill. It's going to be tough. 3 best qualities: - Nurturing (like his brother) - Good sense of humor - Flexible 3 problematic qualities: - Uncertain - A little clueless - Dependent (On both Ayu and Niichan)
Background: [This is a troublesome section since we've gone back and forth on this, but let me try....] Kana and his brother, Takahiro, were orphaned when Takahiro was a young teen and Kana a young child (assumedly through some kinda war issue, Xzutai problems and all). Being that their families had good relations, Ayumu's family took in the boys. As Ayumu's mother--a psychic herself--grew more ill, Takahiro became a sort of nanny for the young Ayu. So Kana grew up alongside Ayu, under the care of his older brother.
His childhood was pretty typical, but things became complicated during his teenaged years. Ayu's powers began to show themselves even more strongly, and the illness made its first appearance. (He also began to realize his feelings for Ayu, which have certainly complicated their relationship some.) Ayu's mother passed away at some point during this time, which made the boy's illness seem even more threatening.
And then, about a year prior to his arc, it happened. Kanaye went to school alone, with Ayu staying home sick with his brother. When he returned home, he found an extremely upset Ayu and a bloody trail within their home. Takahiro was gone, likely dead from the amount of blood loss. Ayu hadn't seen it, couldn't identify the perpetrator no matter how much Kana begged.
