Who: Lucy and Schroeder
What: Schroeder trying to understand what's going on
When: afternoon
Where: Lucy's apartment
Schroeder had been distancing himself from Lucy increasingly since his memory had started to come back. He knew that she would understand all of these memories better than anyone, but he was afraid to tell her. He was afraid to drag her through all of these things again. Schroeder liked how happy they were before all of this, all of the happy memories she had told him and he wanted so badly to remember that, not all of this. Of course, the obvious was staring him in the face not that he was willing to accept it – that what Linus had told him was the truth. The relationship he had with Lucy was not founded until after he had amnesia, which was a very very bad thing if it was true. One would think that he would more readily accept that, especially in light of all of these memories of hating Lucy surfacing.
Shroeder loved his new wife, he really did, but he didn’t want to put her through the torture of having his memories contradicting what he thought he knew about her. He couldn’t even look at himself anymore, he was falling apart and he couldn’t talk to her about this, he just couldn’t. So while he thought Lucy was out of the apartment, he began to pack his bags thinking of what to tell her in a note, how to explain why he needed to go away for a while. Lucy would hate him for this, he figured that much, but she would hate him more if he became this monster from these odd memories.
