Talking to that young girl before didn't help Laurie feel better about the situation...it made her feel worse. She was forced to remember those who might have died. For all she knew, that explosion or whatever, happened in California too. But everyone she knew was in New York, aside from her mother. Adrian, Dan and Rorschach were all probably in New York somewhere when it happened. She missed Dan...Adrian to a fair degree, even though she didn't know him as well and even Rorschach, that lousy, smelly bastard that he was didn't deserve this kind of end.
Laurie sat alone and wallowing. Sunglasses off and on the table and her untouched food just being stared at. She didn't think she could cry anymore at the moment, but those tears seemed to be pushing her and trying to fall from her eyes. Laurie was sick of crying...she was sick of feeling horrible, but she didn't know why Jon sent her there and if everyone else was alive.
'No, not at all,' she replied, looking up briefly. Then it hit her that someone was sitting down and Laurie looked up and blinked a few times before she tried to wipe away any tears that might have fallen.
