Will turned his head at the sound of her voice and felt his chest tighten. Heart or no heart, Elizabeth always made his chest feel tight. He moved towards her and easily picked her up and held her close. He placed his nose against her hair and sighed. Her perfume smelled like heaven to him. He pulled back slightly and looked down at her. She looked so different. So carefree. He frowned.
"Elizabeth." His voice was soft and gentle as he ran a hand through her hair. She looked like she did the day of their first wedding attempt. Before Becket had entered their lives and destroyed everything. They could have lived peacefully in Port Royal, away from pirates, away from the sea. He shook his head. He couldn't dwell on those thoughts. Without Becket interfering, he would have never learned of his father's curse. It was to bad the man had died the way he did. Will would have liked to slash his throat himself.
