Who: Matt and OTA Where: Coffee shop When: Afternoon Why: Matt needs his coffee Open: Definite. (Possibly even Ten II for challenge thread?) Rating: Nothing much to speak of, really.
It was raining that afternoon, and Matt was perhaps the only person not covered by an umbrella. While he wouldn't have minded being dry, the sound of hundreds of raindrops on the fabric would have played hell with his echo vision, not to mention would have been quite painful to hear. So it was that he was walking down the sidewalk, more than slightly damp as he made his way to the coffee shop.
He missed his old neighborhood coffee shop. Missed knowing the people there. Heck, he even missed Foggy, his partner, complaining about this or that. But he was smiling as he walked. While his vision was sound based, normal sounds of everyday life could only give so much. Solid shapes, things like that. Raindrops, however, created smaller sounds all over, and thus presented a better picture. It was the closest thing to actually seeing since he'd lost his sight. Plus, it had a soothing sound to it, slightly overriding everyday sounds.
He made his way down the now familiar sidewalk to the coffee shop, opening the door to have the gentle sounds drowned in an onrush of loud talk, brewing coffee, and various other sounds of too many people inside a small enclosed space. His senses overrun, Matt faltered slightly, seeing several overlapping images of his surroundings, and a slightly jarring sensation as he ran smack into someone. "Terribly sorry," he said, wincing as his head throbbed slightly, and holding out a hand... in the general direction of the person he'd hit, uncertain if he'd knocked them down or not. "Afraid I didn't see where I was going." Okay, maybe he needed some better jokes, as blind humor really wasn't that funny.
