It was all thanks to Kaylee; Simon would have never left the apartment building if she hadn’t insisted. Cause despite what he wanted and despite not wanting anyone to realize or pick up on, least of all Kaylee and River. Was Simon was scared, ever since arriving. He couldn’t quite explain why, and he tried avoiding it, hence the locking himself in not only his apartment suite but his individual room. When his Sister and Kaylee weren’t around he was behind a locked door. He knew who he’d been acting like, maybe a little more like River than the girl was herself. Or at least, broken and confused. She was beautiful before everything, the academy. Beautiful in so many ways, she still was. It just hurt seeing her the way she could get. And now, now he’d been acting a lot like her. Only, he felt he had no reason. It was far worse.
But now he’d focused on something else, he’d gone out to the hospital and inquired about applying for a job. And to his surprise or maybe not so much surprise but to his uncertainty, a position was available. It however was just an ER slot, night shift. It was far from his high position on the Core; but at least it’d bring him back to something he knew. And if you asked his Sister, she’d likely say something he was born for. Fixing people, and in an ER sometimes that was the best place for the sort of doctor that Mr. Tam was… for as diligent and caring for the patients, as he was.
The only thing was that now he saw less of Kaylee; if he wasn’t working he was sleeping. And since he’d the last two nights pulled double shifts, even though he was hired in for late nights, the staff was a little short and thus he volunteered to stay; which was why now he was sleeping in the lounge area. He should have gone to eat something, before heading back in to check on new charts. But he’d sat down for a moment, and ended up drifting off. Or at least that was till he heard someone say something, and he stirred, glancing about, sighing a little tiredly.
