Dean and Alice had not made any specific plans, so he figured he would hang around his apartment; she would message or just come over, when she was ready to talk. Maybe bring her husband too. She seemed a little young to be married, but then again, some people were like that. Well, it also meant that her husband knew about her visions, and if that was so, who knew what he could do.
He wandered into the main room so he could hear any knocks, trying to sort through things in his mind. He sat on the couch, flipping the T.V. on to a random station. Some guy was halfway through making what looked like it had once wanted to be a salad, but he did not really care; it was plenty of background noise, and that was all he needed. He flipped open the green leather journal he carried with him and managed to find a pen, checking his watch and writing the date on the top of the page. "September 22, 2008-" He froze. He had been looking at that date over and over since he got here, seeing it on calendars and television channels, but for the first time it actually had enough precedence in his mind to hit him. 2008. He checked his last entry, and began to shake. He could not believe he had not caught the difference earlier. He was a year ahead. More than that, even.
He had lost a year. His last year. The last year he was supposed to live. He stood, pacing around the couch. What had happened? Did this place bend time? Or did he die, and this was a messed up part of Hell that they had stuck him to watch him go crazy? He was sure Hell was supposed to be more demons ripping him apart and feeding him his own entrails, not throwing him into a fairly quiet Canadian city, but how could he have escaped the deal?
He sat back down heavily, his mind whirling. He jumped like a shot when he heard someone at the door.
