It was rather late in the evening and Victor had still not left his office. She was waiting for him, as he had promised to take her out to dinner. Yet still, what Victor promised and what actually happened were two very different things so, Sue did not keep her hopes very high. Things were particularly difficult being in a strange new town. Victor had been up all day and all night working on trying to figure out how they had got there but it was to no avail. Susan was more worried about her brother and Reed. Where were they? Were they far behind?
Susan had spent her time trying to figure out a wave legnth in which she could contact the outside word, but every attempt proved futile and she was beginning to loose hope. Victor was the only person she had left. Yet, he had been so busy with work that he had spent so little time with her at all. What was he up to?
Finally, at nearly twenty minutes after nine o'clock in the evening, Susan marched her way directly to his office, planning on informing him that the restuarant he had said he was taking her to closes at ten. It looked like another night of cheap take-out. She was nearly at his threshold, however, when she watched a young woman- perhaps no older than eighteen years old- walk out of his office. She was quite lovely, with long black hair and striking blue eyes. Susan was stunned. Normally she would have greeted the woman but somehow a strange suspiciousness crept through her that told her there was something not right with this situation... call it a woman's intuition. She frowned and walked into Victor's office, closing the door softly behind her.
"Who was that?" she asked simply, folding her arms under her chest. She smiled but it was not a particularly happy smile. Clearly, it was a rather fake attempt to hide the fact that Susan was beginning to think that Victor was cheating on her. Where did he go so late at night, when he slipped out of their cold bed-sheets, when he thought she was no longer awake?
