Coraline was on her way home from school. She held her books in her arms, with her messenger bag on her side and walked down the same block she'd always traveled. Except this time, when she passed the police station... or rather where the police station should have been- now there was nothing but peices of broken building and city-workers, trying to clean up the rubble. Coraline frowned. Who would do such a thing?
The girl sighed and turned down the alley-way. It was a short-cut that she'd discovered upon a week or so going to school. It would lead her straight back to the apartment building where Logan was waiting for her. She shivered as a cold wind passed by her, pushing a few flakes of snow off of the fluffly white sheet that covered the ground. The only other sound that could be heard was the crunching of her boots in the snow.
Suddenly, a man in a black suit and black sun-glasses grabbed her by the arm and shoved a picture under her nose. She looked up at him with an angry expression, dropping her books to the floor.
"LET ME GO!" she demanded, trying to pull her arm away.
"Listen little girl, have you seen this man?" the agent asked her. Coraline's eyes flashed to the picture and her heart seemed to leap into her throat. It was Logan.
"NO! NOW LET ME GO OR I'LL SCREAM FOR HELP!" she presisted, continuing to struggle against him.
"Didn't anybody ever tell you it's not right to lie, little girl?" the agent spoke, thrusting another picture in her line of vision. This one had both Logan and herself in it.
Coraline looked up at him with wide eyes. She opened her mouth and screamed at the top of her lungs but the agent sprung forward and clamped his hand over her mouth.
"Who's gunna come and save you, huh? The police?" he laughed. "I don't think so. You're comin' with me- OW! YOU LITTLE BITCH!" he yelled out. She bit down on his palm and he let go of her.
"HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLP!!!! LOOOOOOOOGAAAAAN!!" She ran as fast as she could down the alleyway, tears streaming down her eyes but it wasn't long before the agent caught up. He grabbed her, turned her and slammed her small frame against the brick wall with terrible force. Her head collided with the bricks and instantly, the girl was knocked out cold. A small line of blood trickled from her forehead and her lip. Her right eye began to darken with a deep bruise. But the agent merely growled, picked her up and began to walk away with her in his arms like a groom would carry a bride over a threshold, except Coraline's tiny head lay back in his arms and her hair pulled back, pointing toward the ground from the force of gravity.
