Bobby held his forehead in his hand as she described what had been happening at the police station. How could this happen? Right under his nose? There was no way he could leave work unattended anyway, even if he had been awake. It was his responsibility to hold up shop until his shift was relieved and even if it was a small duty, something that shrunk in comparison to helping uncovered buried people in a collapsed building, that was the price he payed when he took the job. He sighed, trying to alleviate the guilt he still felt for abandoning those poor people who had died.
“Have they released the names of the dead yet?” he asked, hoping it was no one he knew. Then again, someone like Logan was sure to survive a few bumps and scratches like that. He wanted to laugh at the thought. It was then he listened to the red-headed young girl introduce herself and talk about her work at the university library. He’d thought she looked familiar. Maybe that was where he had seen her. He told himself that was where he had to have recognized her from, yet somehow... it felt like there was something more to the story.
“Barbara, huh? I’m Bobby, by the way. Bobby Drake and I go to that university.” he said with a matter-of-fact chuckle. “Do you think it’ll reopen tomorrow? I have class in the morning.” he said scratching his head. This young woman sure did know a hefty amount of information on extremely recent events as well as things the general public seemed not to yet know. Either she was very resourceful and astute or she had friends that were.
