Simon nodded, although then stared a bit confounded at her watching the screen and keyboard suddenly appear in front of her and the woman typing away on it. He just stared lost in his own thoughts until she spoke again, and his confused expression got even wider, because that was impossible—for him be on Earth-That-Was and in the past a little over 500 years. He sort of just gawked, then noting of the manner in which she spoke of the Verse, it sounded as though she was from another place. Or at least she was attempting to indicate the fact. He nodded when she asked if he was looking for another.
He shook his head, “No, I speak a few languages. English,” which he was now speaking in, “And Chinese are commonly spoken… in the ‘Verse… Which is the system of planets that I’m from, and the year is, 2518.” He spoke slowly, starring off a little lost although he was speaking to Saga. His gaze returned to her then, “Yes, Kaylee… she’s the mechanic on the ship Serenity. Last I remember I was with her, in our ship’s engine room. Then, I awoke here.” He wasn’t sure what he ought to believe, and what was a lie. None of it made any sense, but it all seemed very real.
