Who: Barbara Gordon and Open (multiple threads allowed!) What: Time in the Library when: November 6, 2008 - early afternoon Where: the district's library. Why: Because Barbara has a day job and needs to use it! Status: Open, multiple threads? YES!
She sat behind the desk with her laptop out. It was only a few days in and this week was already a bust. Last night had been hard. Bruce hadn't been on for patrol, it had just been her but even so her mind had been moving so quickly... She'd barely gotten enough sleep. Three hours wasn't usually enough for her but she'd make due. She was used to that.
Her shoulders were slumped forward slightly as Mary - one of the older librarians came out from the back room, watching her. Something was wrong here. "Barbara, is everything alright?"
The redhead didn't quite know how to reply so just shrugged and said "Yeah." Not that Mary believed her. "You are much too young to be doing this, Barbara," The older woman continued. "You act as if you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and your dog just died."
The analogies were both right and wrong at the same time. She did have the weight of the world on her shoulders at times but her dog hadn't died. It was just that Dick had apparantly gone rogue. Dean didn't remember her. People were turning into teenagers? It didn't make a lick of sense. She was worried about Nightwing - now Renegade - and the fact that Dean didn't remember her... That just made her heart ache. Maybe she'd put too much into this but she couldn't help that she'd started falling for him.
She shook her head, turning her attention back to Mary, just in time to hear her say something about relaxing and having some fun tonight because she looked "like she could use it." Barbara didn't argue, just agreed - before getting back to her reprogramming of the glitch in the Library's computer system. All was quiet and those in the establishment every so often would bring books to take out... so far a normal day.
