"It's okay," Jake said, giving her his quirky grin and a kiss on the cheek. "I missed it too." He pulled back wondering if he should say that even though it was true. He hated feeling like his life had went through an upheaval.
He wiped a hand through his hair, hanging loose around his face. It had grown out some but looked a bit ragged after a long day under a car. "Let me go clean up before I tear the microwave open to get to the meat or you look as greasy as I do." He was already unbuttoning his shirt before he walked off to the shower.
