"I didn't think you were going to leave him, but I thought you might wake up and not go back and try to hide," Jacob replied curtly. "I asked you if that was what you wanted and yes, you were confused and so was I and neither of us stopped."
"The fact is that you love me as more than a friend or relative," he said. "You do want me, and you think about it, and it might even make you mad because there is a part of you that still wants what we were back at the cabin and every time Edward starts treating you badly, you miss me."
He stepped back from her and sat on his desk, pushing the papers aside. "We have never been through this."
