The body language Clark was giving made it clear that he didn't like the situation. But there was naught Bruce could do other than to continue trying to find a solution to the problem. He didn't want Clark or any of the others that were arriving to be permanently stuck. Yes, they could be helpful in solving this Earth's problems but they had their own worlds that needed them too.
"That would be appreciated." Bruce nodded at the suggestion that Clark made about being useful. This Earth hadn't had a Superman for nearly three years and while the rest of the world carried on, there was still a huge gap where the Kryptonian used to be.
There was a brief second of hesitation at the question as Bruce pondered over how to break the news of this Earth's Superman. "Your counterpart is out of action." He settled on the blunt, direct answer. "Almost three years ago we were attacked. Your counterpart was infected with deadly doses of Kryptonite in his blood and has been placed in stasis until we can work out a cure."
