Entering the Bronze, Buffy felt more than a little self conscious. It wasn't the fact that she was coming to the hangout. This was not by far the first time she had entered. The date had nothing to do with it either. Unless, of course she counted the fact that it was a date.
Then she'd be dead to rights.
Thinking of dead made her nervously smile. Dead things she could definitely handle, evil dead things were great even. It was the living things that made her heart threaten to burst from her chest. And that sent a sick thought through the forefront of her mind.
She would have to kill Xander and Willow later for making her watch 'Alien' at three a.m.; it would serve them right.
Taking a calming breath, she smoothed out imaginary wrinkles in her top. It was a particularly tight, red number, one she wouldn't ordinarily wear. The shirt was worn only special occasions for very good reasons. One of the most important, the night air was a little chilly. The only thing sparing her dignity was the leather jacket she wore over it.
Having spotted her friends through the crowd, Buffy made her way quickly over to them.
Halfway across the dance floor, Xander noticed her. Half smiling, he did a quick eye scan of her from head to toe. His eyes lingered on obvious places.
This once again made Buffy glad she was wearing the jacket. Tonight, she wasn't dressed to tease him. In fact, this had nothing to do with his gender what so ever.
By the time she made it to their side, Buffy finally had Willow's attention upon her. She knew that the other teen had noticed her attire by the raising of her eyebrows. Smiling brilliantly, she took her place at the bar, between them. "Hey, Willow, Xander."
"Well, a very good body...I mean evening to you too." Turning his lower half from her, Xander coughed to cover his embarrassment. "I see you're wearing your hunting gear. Any special prey tonight?"
"Xander!" Reaching over Buffy's shoulder, Willow smacked their friend in the back of the head. This was not going to happen, she would make him behave even if she had to hurt him. After taking care of the 'naughty boy', she turned her attention back to Buffy. "I happen to think she looks very nice."
"Thanks, Wills." Pushing the hair off the back of her neck, Buffy was glad she had decide to wear it up. The Bronze was awfully warm tonight, and she wasn't certain it was the thermostat.
Glancing nervously over her shoulder, she tried to be subtle about it. From Xander's smirk, Buffy knew she had failed. "So, what's on the agenda this weekend?"
"Nothing, actually." For bad news, Willow sounded very excited. "The library has this new computer I am wanting to try out. It won't be available to the public for another month, but I snagged a special invite! Seems they need someone to set it up for them." Looking extremely pleased with herself, she picked up her glass of red colored soda.
"Willow!" Buffy raised her eyebrows, a delighted smile creasing her face. Wrapping her arms around the other girl, she squeezed her, but not too tight. "I am so proud of you!"
"It's a thing, you know?" She snickered. There was just so much she could do with it. "I plan to show them how to use it. Eventually."
"Devious, Wills, I like!" Poking his head in between the girls, Xander wiggled his eyebrows. He was swamped in arms a moment later as they both squished him between them. "Oh, I can learn to love this, definitely."
"Can I get a little of that action?"
The voice caused Xander's back to straighten.
Glancing over his shoulder, Buffy saw Faith standing there, watching them with a hand on her hip. The smirk on the other slayer's face made Buffy summon one of her own. "Hi, Faith."
"B." Faith's voice was low, almost a harsh whisper. "So, hows about it?"
Buffy released Xander, setting him up so that he could stand away from her. Unconsciously brushing the hair from neck, Buffy matched Faith's stance. This had the effect of opening her jacket. Something she was very aware of.
Faith let her eyes slide down Buffy's body, taking her time examining first, her shirt, then her pants. "Girl's looking tight tonight."
"I'm so glad you approve." Letting her jacket fall open the rest of the way, she raised an eyebrow in challenge. With both hands on her hips, her arms kept it that way. "Nice leather top."
Shifting, Faith reached up to tug at her collar with her thumb. The rest of her fingers wiggled at Buffy. "It was a real steal." She winked with a throaty chuckle.
"On you, it should be illegal." That had Buffy closing her eyes. Some times, she could just die. The chuckle from Faith let her know it wasn't being mocked. Rolling her eyes, Buffy licked her lips.
This drew Faith's attention there too. Letting her eyes linger upon Buffy's mouth, Faith jerked her head back. "Wanna go for a twirl?"
"I thought you'd never ask." Grin a mile wide, Buffy's heart was doing that weird fluttery thing again. As she past Faith, she felt light enough to float up in to the rafter. Just to make sure it was all in her head, she did a glance down at her feet.
"Relax, B., I've got you." Slinging an arm around Buffy's shoulders, Faith escorted her out on to the dance floor.
Back at the bar, Xander couldn't keep the half glazed look from his face. "Willow, tell me this is really happening."
"I think so." Her own expression wasn't much better. Willow had to use the bar behind her to keep her balance.
"If you pinch me and this turns out to be a dream, I'll never forgive you." Watching as Buffy actively ground against Faith's hip made Xander whimper. His head bobbed in tune with the music, eyes following their every move. "See, now that's just so hot."
"Oh, yeah." Mouth dry, Willow tugged at her shirt. Lost in the moment, she didn't see Xander slowly turn to look at her, his jaw hanging open.
