The bank was impressive.
Not that it stood a chance. They never did.
"Put your hands up where we can see them. If I hear even one electronic device, you'll all die." That got their attention. Having perfected his technique years ago, Nathan was a master of the bank heist.
Moving quickly to the Teller's window, Peter held his sawed-off with one hand, the burlap sack with the other. It didn't matter what fibers they got from the scene, the sack was stolen and would be burned after this job. He shoved it across the counter to the blonde on the other side.
Her hands were held up, but with little enthusiasm. Eyeing the bag, she raised an eyebrow. "I know you don't expect me to help you."
"You will." The pump of Nathan's shot gun chambering another round was the only warning she got. "I won't tell you twice."
Snorting, she crossed her arms over her chest. The next instant she was flying back in to the coin counting machine. As she slid to the floor, the gaping wound in her chest left a bloody trail.
Turning his gun on the next Teller, Peter pumped another round. "Can I get a little service over here?"
Moving quickly, the woman dropped her hands and ran to pick up the burlap sack. Her fingers shook as she typed out the correct sequence to pop out the cash drawer. When it opened, she gasped in relief. She made quick work of the contents.
"Three minutes!" Calling from the door, Mohinder's voice rasped through his voice modulator.
"This is taking too long." Turning on the bank Manager at his desk, Nathan pointed the single barrel at him. "You will assist her." He twitched the barrel twice towards the counter.
The man swallowed, but nodded his understanding. He rushed passed Peter towards the employee's entrance. Jumping the counter, he landed wrong. Collapsing on his now injured ankle, he cried out.
This frightened the Teller, but despite crying out, she kept hold of the sack. Emptying the last of the cash from her drawer, she slid it across the counter to Peter. "There isn't any more."
Taking it back, Peter did a quick examination of the contents. "Not enough cash." He slammed his fist against the counter top. "We were too early!"
At the security station, Ted shook his head. "The vault is open, there should be more." He tapped the monitor twice. "Something's not right."
"All right." Raising the tip of his shot gun, Nathan took aim at the Manager. With a quick squeeze of the trigger, he blasted the man's head across the floor. "Nuclear Solution."
Three more shots rang out in the bank, followed shortly by three soft thuds.
Peter dropped the sack. A quick jerk on the wooden slide, and he chambered another round. Backing to the door, he swept the bank with his gun.
As soon as Ted and Peter were at the door with them, Nathan gestured for Mohinder to do it.
Mohinder gave a quick nod. Reaching in to the bag on his shoulder, he withdrew a large cylindrical object. Pressing the switch on the side, he tossed it towards the Teller's window.
While he did that, Peter and Ted blew out the glass doors with their guns.
Reaching in to Mohinder's bag, Nathan removed a three smaller devices. After arming them, he pitched them through the doors. Three explosions rocked the building, knocking dust and panels from the ceiling. "Check the way!"
Peter was the first through the doors. Having chambered another round, he swept the street. The remains of a car at the bank steps burned, the remains of a man with a gun beside it. Tilting his head to the side, he put a hand to his ear. "All clear, but we got company on the way!"
"Move out!" In the bank, Nathan waited for Ted and Mohinder to jump through the remains of the doors. When they were out of sight, he ran through the after them. He looked to Ted to tell him, but found it wasn't necessary.
Ted had a small black walkie talkie out. He squeezed the squawk button four times before releasing it. A series of three clicks came over the speaker in response. "Ten seconds 'til pickup!"
"Clear the area." Mohinder let the sleeve of his shirt go back down, shaking his watch back to a more comfortable placement. "Twenty seconds until blast!"
While Peter and Ted scanned the horizon, Nathan checked the building tops. Through his dark glasses, he spotted a figure on the post office across the street. The man wasn't in a place to take aim, yet, but that didn't mean he would remain that way.
Reaching down the back of his pants, Nathan pulled out the forty-four. The man on the post office was moving, but Nathan already had the safety off. Before the person could hit the roof under their own means, Nathan had put a bullet in their head.
Half a second later, a large green oldsmobile came screeching to a halt in front of them.
This time, Nathan didn't wait for the others. He dashed around the car, taking the front passenger position. Climbing in the car, he grabbed the door by the window frame and slammed it shut.
In the back seat, Mohinder entered first. He was followed by Ted, then Peter.
Before his door was even shut, the car was taking off. Peter watched through the back window as they rounded a corner. Just as they finished taking the turn, the front of the bank exploded outwards. Shivering, he faced the front. In the rear view mirror, his eyes met Sylar's for a moment.
Sylar smiled, then went back to watching the road.
"I wonder how long before Parkman finds this one." Snickering, Nathan continued to watch their mirrors. When no one came in to view after five miles of driving, he patted Sylar's elbow. "Time to ditch it. Ted, call in Niki and DL."
"They're going to be pissed that we didn't score." Reaching in to his coat, Ted pulled out a cellphone. He had to pull off the vocal modulator so he could speak. "We need a pick up."
Nathan scanned the road signs ahead of them through binoculars. "Elmherst and Plantation."
"Elmherst and Plantation, southeast of town." Nodding, he made a sound of agreement. Snapping the phone, he shoved it back inside his coat. "Two minutes."
"Great. We have time to restock and hit the secondary target." Nathan spun around in his seat to face the three in the back. "No screw ups, we can't afford to be careless."
"Leave no survivors again?" When his brother nodded, Peter shrunk in on himself. He hated when they had to kill so many people.
THE END..................
