Here We Go
The Master brushed a hand down the side of the vampire in a little boy's body. "Soon, little one, soon I will be free and this town will be brought to its knees." At a cleared throat, he sighed and turned back to Ella. "You, my most precious of children, I would not ask this of just anyone. We must know more of this.... 'male' slayer and how this changes the prophecies. Take great care, my beauty, and make sure to keep your distance no matter what. I do not believe for one instant that this... abomination is any less a threat in male form. And remember, he is not the only threat to us that stalks the nights now. Our enemies are few, but no less in strength."
"I will find out all I can of this new 'slayer' Master." Ella told the Master as she faced him.
Taking in her sullen features, he held out a hand to her, but stopped at the dimensional barrier that trapped him in the cave. "Do not fret, Ella, it so doesn't become you. Christos is not lost to us, merely trapped by that filthy soul. When I am free, I shall offer him the same curtosy."
"You will return him to me then." Ella smiled.
"I shall free him." He gestured towards the exit of the cavern. "Now go, observe this slayer, then come back and tell me all about him."
Ella nodded, turned and headed to find the slayer.

Vin brought the sword up to block over headed attack. With a spin of his hand, the attacking blade flew backwards with its handler. Taking the offencive, Vin swung his second blade in horizontal chest cut. His first sword, still in motion from perrying the attack blade of his enemy, made a diagnol cut. The flat of his blade smacked Josiah's short sword from his hand when he attempted to block the chest slice. Vin smirked when Josiah's bobbed tie fell from his jacket. "I don't need slayer abilities to beat your fancy pants frenchy sword moves. Two full blades against your one and a half is always easier Josie."
"That's Josiah." Josiah told his pupil as he looked at his tie. "Those are not the only moves you will have to fend off."
"No, they aren't, but if I am to learn something of defending myself against a threat, I need an opponent who posses one."
"And you suggestoin is?" Josiah questioned as he looked at the young man.
Vin lifted his swords, crossing them as he took a step back. "I suggest you find someone who poses a challenge."
Josiah glared at the boy. "I'll decide when you need someone else to train with." Josiah attacked Vin.
Easily dodging the attack, Vin spun to avoid Josiah's lunge and jabbed his blade to poke the watcher in the butt.
Josiah cursed silently and spung around. Bring his sword down low and catching Vin on the lower leg.
"Nice shot, but look up, Josie." Vin edged the sword against the older man's throat, rubbing them together just enough to irritate the skin.
Josiah sighed. I'm getting to old for this, he thought.
"Evenin, Josiah." Chris walked out of the shadows of the graveyard, his black coat, pants, and shirt making his pale skin and blonde hair stand out in the moonlight. "Out training the new vampire bait?"
"What are you doing here?" Josiah asked the vampire, facing him.
"Just thought I would make the rounds, see what was dead or almost that way in old SunnyDale. Heard sword fighting and thought I might be able to have some fun." Chris ignored the scowl the slayer was effecting at his words. "Anything new happen in town since I was brought back? I know about what happened before, that weasil of a lawyer informed me. I am sorry for your losses, Josiah, and the pain I have caused you."
"I bet you are." Josiah growled.
"I don't want to start nothin, Josiah, I was just here to appologize." Chris shrugged his coat closer to his body.
"What's in it for you?" Josiah retorted.
"What? There is nothing in this for me. I am here because I am truly sorry, I wanted to appologize and put this behind us." Glowering, Chris shook his head. "Forget it, I can see you aren't yet ready. Just remember, while you may have lost a slayer, I lost my lover and child!"
"She was my friend too. don't forget that."
"She was a slayer, and a slayer's job is to die tragically." Vin picked up his sword and saluted Chris with it. "She died, I was called, now get over it."
Chris glared at Vin. "You the freak of nature should talk."
"It's called evolution, Chris baby, I'm bigger, better, and faster than the previous models." His movements blurred until he froze, the blade now sticking out of Chris' chest. "Now where have I seen this before?" He twisted the blade until blood started to pour from Chris' chest. "Oh yeah, when my predecessor sent you to hell."
Chris moved quickly grabbed the blade pushing the sword backward, hitting Vin in hard in the stomach. This knocked the wind from the slayer. Vin gasped for air as his knees hit the ground. Chris pulled the sword from Vin's hand and out of his body. He tossed it and it landed in his hand. The blade ended up laying against the side of Vin's neck. Chris leaned down and whispered. "Possible. Though you have nothing on her."
"Really," Vin replied by shoving his second sword up into Chris' stomach.
Chris grabbed Vin's hand, squeezing it until the hand opened. Chris lifted vin to face him. Then flipped him over his head. Letting Vin hit the ground hard. Chris removed the sword and chucked it away from them. Chris pinned Vin's arms down.
Curling up his body, Vin wrapped his legs around Chris' waist. He clenched his thighs around the vampire, then jerked his body violently to toss Chris off his feet. When they landed, Vin rolled until he was on top of Chris. "Wanna let go of my arms so I can finish you off?"
"Don't think so." Chris head butted Vin.
Vin returned the gesture. Holding his head back, he blinked crossed eyes and shook his head to clear it. "Got a hard head there, Larabee."
"Been told that." Chris brought his knees up and hit Vin in the back as he pulled him over his body.
"Okay, enough of this Mr. Nice Slayer." Rolling his body length wise, he quickly twisted from Chris' grip. He slammed his doubled fists in to the vampire's chest, buying him enough time to jump up. Planting his feet, he reache down and grabbed Chris by the duster, picked him up, swung him around and released him like a shotput. The vampire sailed through the night to disappear in the trees in the distance before crashing.
"Nice throw." Josiah watched Chris sail away. "What do you mean by this seem familiar, oh yeah, when my predecessor sent you to hell?"
Vin jumped as if startled and looked at Josiah wearily. "Nothing."
"Like hell. Have you been having dreams?"
Narrowing his eyes at the Watcher, Vin took on an agressive stance. "How do you know about that?"
"It's part of being a slayer." Josiah retorted, showing no fear of hte boy before him.
"Dreaming of being a girl and getting my ass kicked for being a little girl is part of being a slayer? What the hell fucked up is this?"
"A slayer is suppose to be a girl and therefore all other slayers have been girls."
Stalking up to the watcher, Vin grabbed him by the collar and lifted him off his feet. "Do I you think just because I dream about being a girl, I am supposed to be one?"
"Slayers have been girls from the beginning for some reason with you this has changed and I plan on finding out why. Put me down."
"Not until you accept that I am not a girl. I am not a girl!" Vin shook the older man to emphasize his point.
"I know that." Josiah growled.
"Good, don't forget it." Vin released the older man and stepped back. Walking away, he picked up his swords and replaced them in the shieths on his back. "I gotta do some stupid mumbo jumbo magics studies with Charlotte then go over a project for tomorrow in calculous. Tomorrow she has me scheduled for patroling until midnight. Call me when you can find an opponent worthy of my skills and can tell that she-devil with the british accent to quote 'piss off'."
Josiah sighed, then shook his head.

Ella smirked down at her souled, unconscious childe. "Poor Christos, its not really surprising you and the new slayer are already enemies. Though, it would have been so much more fun had you been able to fool him into accepting your overtures and then using them against him." Turning to the minion beside her, she nodded. "Make sure he is placed in the crypt across the way to prevent the sun from reaching him just in case he doesn't wake before it rises. I have to see the master."
The Minion nodded, and did as he was told.
Walking away, Ella strolled down the street whistling. Suddenly, something struck the back of her knees. Turning around, she looked aroud to find what had hit her. Again the blow came from behind. Looking back, she couldn't find out what had happened. "Who's there?"
Vin smirked as he throw another rock and moved so she wouldn't see him.
"I demand you show yourself!" When she was struck in the ass by a large rock, she jumped up and headed towards the direction it had come from. Fast as she was, the person throwing them were faster. "Get back here!"
Vin smiled as he watched her from his hiding spot. He threw another rock and moved in the opposite direction.
After being struck in the back of the head twice, Ella screamed in rage and ran off towards the Master's cavern. She would make them hurt just as soon as she reported back to him.
Vin stood and snickered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Charlotte trailed a hand down Vin's spine, grinning at his shiver. "You are doing a very good job." His skin painted with animal blood, trembled from the effort to maintain the spell. "Soon. Just learn to focus the energy."
Vin concentrated on the magic, but Charlotte sometimes took his attention from it.
She enjoyed the reaction of her light touches on his body. The way he lost control and the full grasp of his true, demonic essence that made him a slayer slipped from him. He would gain control of it and the knowledge of being a true slayer, but only when she was ready to allow it. For now, he would build magical stamina, he already had plenty of the physical variety. Speaking of which. Charlotte traced a tattoo into his skin, drumming her fingers in time with his heart.
Vin shuddered. He tried to stay on track, but it was getting hard has her touch were causing his body to react in ways he didn't want.
Suddenly, her eyes shot black and she turned to face the door with a sneer. "That's enough for tonight, go in to the bathroom and get washed up."
Vin nodded, He got up and headed into the bathroom. He closed the door, striped off his clothes, then got in the shower.
When she was sure he was under the spray, Charlotte rose to her feet. Her steps grew angrier with each one on her way to the door. She waved a hand over the door and it faded from existance. On the other side of the magical barrier stood the last person she wanted to see. "How did you get off your leash?"
"My dear lady I assure you that I don't have a leash." Ezra told the woman.'
"Could have fooled me, leach." Her angry features contorted into a psychotically cheerful pose. "How is your dear mother, Ezra? Last I heard she had married yet again. How did that work out?"
"She does as she wishes." Ezra told her, not showing any emotion. "What may I ask are you up to?"
"Teaching my slayer."
She flicked dried blood from her nose.
"Teaching him what might be the better question." Ezra looked her over.
"How to be a better slayer, what else?" Getting a little defensive, she put her hands on her hips. "Is there a point to your visit, or are you just out barking at shadows?"
"Just making sure that is what you are thinking of and not something else." Ezra stated.
"How I teach my slayer and what I teach my slayer are none of your concern, lap dog." She waved her hand over the barrier and the door reappeared. "Stupid dog!"
Ezra rolled his eyes. He didn't like this watcher, more then any other watcher he had ever met.
The shower turned off and silence reigned in the house. Charlotte waved her hand over the room, "begone!" The candles, incense, and altar disappeared.
Vin walked out of the bathroom. He had a towel in his hands rubbing his hair dry. He had a pair of sweats pants on. He looked up at her. "You used your magic to get rid of the stuff."
"It was easier and less time consuming." She took the towel from his hands and began to work it through his hair. "You are going to tangle it up if you keep scrubbing it that way."
"It's how I've always done it." Vin told her
Forcing his had to remain still while she ran her fingers through his hair to untangle the knots, she took the time to massage his scalp. "That's why you have a rat's nest on your head."
"Why do you use so much magic?"
She stopped her actions at his question. Pausing another moment, she thought on how to phrase her responce. "Do you know why I and the other few watchers were chosen to come here instead of an entire army?"
"No." Vin looked at her.
"Well," she began, "we were the twelve most powerful watchers to volunteer when the judge asked us to come. By powerful, I mean magically adept. He needed enough to make a decision to pass a council motion, which requires thirteen, and they had to be powerful enough to defend themselves against the forces of darkness."
"Then why do you need me?" Vin asked curiously.
"This is the HellMouth, a nexus of evil. If we use magic like air, we run the risk of becoming addicted, corrupted or worse." Charlotte began to pick through his curls again. "We must pace ourselves even outside of this place, but on the HellMouth we must be even more vigilant. After a time, we wear ourselves out from the constant upkeep or lose the magic from lack of use. I do not intend to remain here long enough for any of that. When we stop the Master, his allies, and the others who are interested in controling the HellMouth, we will be the new law around here. And once that happens, you and I have work else where. SunnyDale is only one place with evil. If you could remember your past, you would know that."
"So we leave here when we have finished?"
Smiling at him, she tapped the tip of his nose. "Exactly. When the Council of Watchers controls the HellMouth, they will set up a continuous rotating patrol to watch over and police the area. Keeping you here would only serve to be a waste of such a valuable asset. And you have a very fine asset."
"What if I don't want to leave?" Vin pulled her hands from his hair.
"You are the slayer, eventually you will feel the need to move on because of your calling. When the Watchers control an area without dispute, there are no forces that can stand against them. Spending night after night just patroling a town empty of evil and dusting the occaisional vampire will drive you crazy. You will feel the pull, and you will go." Taking his hands in hers, she smiled at him. "I didn't make you this way, it is just the nature of the slayer."
"Why me?" Vin looked in her eyes.
"No slayer knows why. Each of them asks that same question and comes up with the same answer. A slayer is just winning number in a lottery, what you do with your ticket is what makes you you." She released one of his hands to gently cup his face.
"But the others have been all girls." Vin said softly.
"That was because the original was female. Most boys are too fickle and short sighted to understand the great responcibility a slayer represents. Plus the fact that women have a higher pain threshold then guys generally makes us better slayers." Removing her hand from his face, she turned away. "Time to go home, Vin, you have school in the morning."
"Are you mad at me?" Vin asked in a bare whisper.
"No, I am not mad." Holding up her hand that had been caressing his face, she jangled her wrist watch at him. "I noticed how late it really was. I can let you sleep in my class, but you still have seven others to attend."
Vin nodded. "See you tomorrow."
"Very good." She escourted him to the door and opened it for him. A scratching at the closet door behind her made her twist. With a chuckle, she opened the walkin closet and let out JD, leading him by the leash. "Don't forget your werewolf."
Vin took JD's leash and led him out of hte house.
Laughing to herself over a job well done, Charlotte closed the door.
Preening under the Master's gaze, the Annointed One passed through the barrier just as Ella entered the cavern. "What have you to report, Ella?"
"The slayer fought Christos."
Picking up her body language, the vampire in a child's body began to giggle. "She means he beat the hell out of her fledgeling."
Ella glared at the boy.
"Children, do not fight." The Master spoke in a tired tone that belied how excited he grew from hearing about Ella's insulent childe finally getting his lessons. "Ella, please continue on, do not leave out any details."
"The slayer was fighting Josiah Sanchez. When Christos came on them. Christos said afew things and the slayer went after him.
"Give me the details of the fight, I wish to know this creature's abilities."
Looking at the Master, she decided Christos' embarrassment would just have to be dealt with on a later date. "The slayer is proficient in doul broad swords. He not only knows how to use them but he beat the watcher's eighteenth century dueling sword and short sword in under thirty seconds. This is the same Watcher who be headed the Three when he fought them all at once. Christos came up out of the shadows after the Watcher had lost his tie and nearly his head to that brat. Christos was run through the heart by that damned slayer. Christos used a standard knock down, but he forgot about the second sword.
"The slayer ran it through his gut just like I would have if it had been me." Smirking at the memory, she shivered in pleasure. "This little boy has a cruel streak, when he had the sword through Christos' chest, he twisted it for maximum damage.
"Christos knocked the slayer's hand free of the sword, wrapped his wrists in his grip and threw him over his shoulder to land on the ground. He never knew when to let go and that little bitch rolled up his body to wrap his legs around Christos. He squeezed and twisted until they were on the ground and he on top." By now, she was run a hand down her chest and another up her leg unconsciously. "They fought for dominance, the slayer still caught in his large, mascular hands. Christos head butted him and was head butted in return. He then brought up his knee around the slayer's waist and slammed it to him." She gasped and closed her eyes. Shaking her head, she began to pant.
"The slayer doesn't like being on the recieving end. He slammed his double fists into Christos. He jumped up and planted his feet to stand over the prone Christos. Grabbing him by the collar, he picked him up, and spun him. The slayer spun and spun and then with a harsh cry he released Christos! Oh god!" Shaking violently, Ella doulbled over. After a few more shakes, she stood up and opened her eyes.
"Anyways, Christos flew through the air and crashed at my feet in the trees over a hundred meters away. After that I had the minion take Christos to a crypt just in case he didn't awake before the sun and came directly back here." Her eyes went gold at the memory of being stoned by the unknown person. "The little bastard is far stronger than any previous slayer we have encountered. I believe we may have a problem in close combat. It would be best to disable him and then bring him here as your sacrifice."
The Master nodded and turned to the Annointed One. "What do you recommend, my precious one?"
"He will definally be trouble. I think Ella is right that we need to disable him then use him as a sacrifice."
"Of course I'm right, you pathetic little shit!" Snorting, she turned up her nose comtemptuously at him.
"Enough, you two." the master told them.
"As you wish, my sire." Twisting her braid, Ella nodded at him then walked out of the caves with a confident swagger.
The master watched Ella leave. He didn't like what she had told him. The boy was trouble and had to be disposed of. He looked at the kid that was next to him.
"This bothers you. I too am troubled by the presence of this aberation in the prophecies." The Annointed one entered the barrier again. "Perhaps it would be best to send out one of our more magically inclined allies to test his metaphysical abilities."
"Yes that would be wise."
"Mean while, which do you wish to hear tonight, Italian or French?"
"Italian." The master said looking at him.
"Excellent choice. Bring him in." Sitting down next to the Master, the Annointed One watched as they brought in a man bound hand and foot. His eyes grew in delight at the Human's expression when he saw the torture impliments. "I think I would like to hear a soprano tonight. Remove his balls!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vin held JD close, rubbing the WereWolf's ears. "When you turn Human in the morning, I would like you to keep the collar on, but I know how much you hate it."
JD whimpered.
"Hush, we are almost home. If you hadn't injured your paw on that stupid Vorlac demon, I wouldn't be carrying you. Those things are harmless until you decide to eat their offspring. What were you thinking?" He shook JD a little but continued walking.
Chris followed the slayer, keeping his distance.
"What is the point of having offspring if you are just going to leave them out for any monster to eat? Not that you are a monster, JD, but you really shouldn't have been sniffing at them. You should know better!" He adjusted the wolf across his shoulders and walked on.
Chris looked up and down the slayer, admiring the view.
Vin paused mid step. Settting JD down, he pulled out a stake. "Come out of the shadows or I will come in and get you
Chris stopped, he had a choice here. Chris snorted as his stepped out of the shadows. "Latter sounds nice too."
"Christos!" Stepping up to the Vampire, Vin held up the stake to stab him with. "Lets finish this."
"You in a hurry to get rid of your only challenge here." Chris stood his ground, though ready to take action if it was needed.
"There is no challenge. You may have been a threat to the past slayer, but to me you are merely an irritant." Moving, he was suddenly behind Chris and shoving him forward hard enough to send him flying ten feet. "Those little girls all ended up the same way because they were too weak. I won't make the same mistake of trusting the wrong people like Sarah did. Did you know even as she died, she still felt for you. It was the stress of sending you to hell that made her go into labor too soon!"
Chris growled as he came to his feet. "You bastard."
"Actually, according to the government files, my father was married to my mother before he died." He surged forward, tackling Chris to the ground.
Chris flipped him over his head.
Rolling to his feet, Vin jumped forward to bodily land on Chris again. This time he strattled the Vampire's chest, his legs holding his arms down. Looking down at Chris' lower body, Vin tilted his head in examination. "What have we here, fangless?"
"Might you be jealous, boy." Chris kneed him.
"Now that," Vin wiped blood from his lip before bringing a clenched fist on Chris' thigh knocking it out of socket, "wasn't very nice."
Chris groaned in pain. Chris grabbed Vin's shoulders and yacked him to mere inches from his face. "You are not nice." Chris growled.
Vin did a two handed spin that lifted his lower body off Chris so he could spin and replant himself to see Chris face to face. "You are still alive, I would say I was being generous."
Chris flipped him over his head and flipped an landed on Vin. "YOu like me." Chris winked at him.
Laughing, Vin tossed the Vampire in the air. "You are full of yourself." He quickly rolled out of the way before Chris could land.
Chris flipped in mid air and landed on his feet afew feet away.
"How's the hip?" Vin was all at once behind him. Grabbing the Vampire's dislocated joint, he popped it back into place then kicked up into Chris' rear to send him sprawling again. "Stay away from me, Vampire."
Chris rolled and came up facing Vin. "You scared what might happen if you get too close to me?"
"Get to close to you, a vampire? Why would I want to get close to you, or anyone for that matter?" He did a back flip and landed near JD. "Getting attached breeds distraction and distraction is a weakness. They say love is a strength, and cliched villains say it is a weakness. They are both right."
"Anything can be used as a weakness or a strength, you just have to decide which it will be." Chris watched the slayer. "Sarah was strong in her love and that was what made her strong enough to do what she had to. No matter the consinques." Chris moved his hand to his face as he turned away from the slayer.
"And killed her too soon. Had she been strong enough to kill you that first night after stopping the Judge instead of letting you go, she would be here instead of me." Vin picked up JD over his shoulders again. "Every slayer who has ever trusted someone has died, usually at the hands of someone they trusted. Don't expect me to give into you, no matter what I might feel." Then he was gone in a flash.
Chris whirled around to where the slayer had stood. His mind repeating the last sentence that the slayer had said. Chris cursed the feelings that made him the lost of his lover and son.

Here We Go
Josiah flexed his hand over the wall socket then quickly closed it into a fist. "No! Not this time, not this way!" Lowering his head, he rubbed at his eyes to assage the tension headache that had been forming for the past half hour.
Buck watched him as he ate pizza.
"Must you smack your lips when you chew," Josiah growled.
"I'm not smacking my lips."
"You damn sure were!" Turning around, he opened blood shot eyes to glare at his house guest. "Every time, like a pig, smack smack smack! I swear, there is less smacking at a stooges convention!"
"Why don't you show me my room and I'll smack in there." Buck told the overrot watcher.
"There is no room, I told you, you get the couch!" Moving from the kitchen, Josiah rubbed at his sweat covered forehead in exhasperation. "Father, give me strength."
Buck wandered into the livingroom with a piece of pizza he was munching. "You would have more room if you got rid of some of these books."
"Those books are what saves people like you from being people like me."
Buck tilted his head and looked at one of the older books. "I don't know how as this one is in another language."
"Your ignorance astounds, brother, but if even that retched child of a slayer can be taught, then so can you." Josiah walked over and picked up the book in question. Opening the cover, he waved a hand over it and whispered, "English." Then he handed it over to Buck. "Say the first few words on the very first page."
Buck took the book in one hand and held his pizza in the other. "This is to be used to class monsters and understand there abilities so one can fight them." Buck read.
"No, you imbecill, the first words on the first page, not he preface!" Taking the book, Josiah opened it and read it to himself. "What the hell? This isn't what it is supposed to say." Waving a hand over the book, he whispered, "return." The letters reformed in the ancient language. He began reading from it and a flame appeared above his head. "There, that is what these books teach you." With flick of his wrist, the book closed and the flame went out.
"That could come in handy when you don't have a place to live and it's cold."
"Yes, and so can a whore!"
Buck glared at the man. "What do you mean by that?"
Putting the book back on the shelf carefully, Josiah took a deep breath. "Your mind is dense only because you refuse to accept the possibility that things just might not be beyond your control if you stand and fight for it."
"So if believe I can do that I can." Buck looked from Josiah to book and back to Josiah, his interest perked.
"No." Josiah walked up to him and tapped him on the forehead. "You don't have to believe it to make it happen. You need faith in yourself in order to control it, it being another part of life. Just because something may or may not come in handy is not enough."
"You going ot show me how to do this."
"I cannot." Josiah used a hand to display his condition. "I, myself, am going through magical withdraw symptoms. I can tell you how do it, but you will have to learn to do magic by practice. Which I do not suggest you do anywhere near here. But before you even contemplate doing magic, I suggest you learn that you cannot simply learn enough to get by. That just because we are not all physically volitile or specially enhanced, that we are any less."
"I'm part demon." Buck said softly.
"I know this. Your flippant attitude towards things you think you have no use for is very dangerous."
"You mean magic." Buck looked at the librarian.
"Among other things." Walking back to the kitchen, Josiah grabbed a rag from the counter top. He filled it with ice and put it against his head. "You need to learn responcibility and what it entails. For me, that lesson is something I renew everyday. Most recently with this slayer and my over use of magic."
Buck watched him, his head tilted to the side taking in the big man's words. Buck thought about the words and knew that the man was right, but how to do this thing he spoke on.
Josiah walked back into the living room and sat in the chair across from the couch. Adjusting the rag to his temple, Josiah glanced up at the dark haired man. "There are many things we have to learn and accept that may go against the most basic principles of our nature."
"Like what?" Buck sat down in a chair as he finished his pizza.
"That man was not created in six days. That man is not alone. That there is more than one god." He raised a hand to forestall Bucks arguement. "I am not saying that there is no God, God, but that is not the only one."
"So there are many gods." Buck asked in an unsure voice.
"Yes, most are from a time when the dimensions were one instead of seperate and many."
"Dimensions?" Buck raised an eyebrow.
"Alternate existances. There are an infinite amount of dimensions, each one different from the other. For example, there is a dimension where there are nothing but shrimp. Several of these dimensions can be considered a form of the biblical hell. Several of them are ruled over by gods or demons posing as gods."
Josiah lowered his head as he tried to catch his breath.
"So I'm partly from another dimension?"
"No, but more than likely the god of your species lies in another dimension." Slumping back, his breathing started to even out. "Most demons in this dimension are some form of human-demon hybrid. It is very rare..." he yahned, "that a true demon will exist here for any length of time."
"Why?" Buck asked as he wasn't sure of what the man was telling him.
"They can not survive in this dimension without creating a war. It is believed that this dimension was locked to them by the powers that be in order to give humanity a chance to develop free of their influence. However, before they left, they infused their blood and powers with that of several humans to maintain a presence in this dimension. Others merely left doorways for their eventual return to this...." He trailed off as his head finally listed to the side. A few moments later he began to snore.
Buck watched the man for a moment. then laid down on the couch and thought about what the watcher had said. He slowly drifted off to sleep with the thoughts of demons and them forcing their way back in to the world.
END SCENE
Here we go.
JD and Casey sat at a table while Vin at another table, scribbling. Casey looked at JD.
"What you thinking about JD?"
"How quiet it is around here since the others are gone." He turned to look at her, his hair falling in to his eyes causing him to shake it free. "All this time I kept thinking, hoping that it would go back to normal. I told myself that when they found the slayer we could get on with living again. That when we found the slayer, I would feel again. Now that he is here, it just seems wrong some how."
"Wrong how? The fact he's a he and not a she or that he can kick anyone's ass."
"Wrong how? The fact he's a he and not a she or that he can kick anyone's ass." Casey looked from Jd to Vin and back to JD. She shifted in her wheelchair.
"No, wrong in the way that we are still here and no one else is. Like what we had here is now gone but we are still holding on." JD slammed his book shut and sat back in anger. "I want it to be like it used to be, but it can't. I want to move on, yet everyone expects us to carry on with the mission. We can't protect the world when we are barely able to save ourselves!"
Casey reached out and touched JD's hand.
Vin looked up, then went back to writing.
Pulling back from her grip, he stood up. "What are we doing here?"
"JD." Casey so wanted to comfort him, but couldn't because of her paralyse She moved her wheelchair around to get to him.
"No! I'm serious, what are we doing here? There is nothing to do here, we are just sitting around wasting our lunch hour in an empty library." Stepping away from her, he stomped up the steps to the stacks. Leaning against the banister, he looked down at the slayer and former wiccan. "What is the purpose of sitting here doing nothing?"
"Would you shut up? Some of us actually have something to do aside from waste space." Inez appeared from behind him holding a large leather bound book. "If I don't get the basics of herbology down, my dad will never let me study magic again!"
"So is your life." JD snapped and rolled his eyes.
"That makes absolutely no sense, dog boy?" Inez slid down the banister to the lower ground floor. Walking over to the table, she plopped down across from Vin. "You're new here. I suggest you run fast before these two suck you into their 'we must save the world' cult."
Vin ignored her in favor of scratching out an entire paragraph of the book and rewriting it.
"What you doing?" Inez asked Vin as she opened her book up.
"Correcting the mistakes of others." He scratched out another paragraph and rewrote it.
"of others?" Inez looked at him questionly.
Putting his pen down, Vin looked up at here with narrowed eyes. "These people don't know what the hell they are talking about. They weren't the ones out there slaying those demons, so how can they accurately discribe how it reacted to what influence?"
"So you are part of the save the world geek group already."
"No. I have nothing to do with their group." With that, he picked up the pen and started to finish his work in the diary.
"Yeah, right." She replied sarcasticly.
He glanced up her and froze her with his gaze. "Listen closely, little girl. I am death, there is no saving, no mercy, just finality."
"Whatever." Inez went back to her book.
"Better watch it, Inny Outie, this bitch means it!" Paulo laughed as he let the doors swing closed behind him. "Well, well, well, what do we have here? Why, I do believe it is a flock of yellow bellied sap suckers."
Inez rolled her eyes and went back to her book.
"Yo, Ralfie!" Paulo whistled and slapped his thigh. "Get in here boy, I know you are waiting out there where your girlfriend can't see you."
Casey looked up at JD.
He signaled her not to say anything.
Casey sighed and went back to where she was. trying to ingore Paulo.
Rafael waltzed in and up to Paulo.
"I suggest you leave the lady alone, dipshit." Buck came in behind the counter from the Library office.
Paulo turned toward the newcomer. "Obvious you don't know who I am and the respence that I deserve."
"I don't care who you are, I suggest you get out of the Library and leave these kids alone before I show you the truly what you deserve." He stepped forward, his hand rubbing at the side of his mustache. "Don't make me get violent, boy."
"Rafael, we have a tough guy here." Paulo looked Buck up and down.
Casey looked at JD and not sure what to do.
Before Buck could make a retort, Vin's pen stuck itself in the ground at Paulo's feet.
Paulo looked down at his feet. "Looks like we have another new kid to show who's the boss is around here." Paulo looked toward Vin.
Buck grabbed the jock by his collar and lifted him off the ground. Swinging the kid to look him in the red eyes, Buck blinked and smiled. His demon side visible, he picked up a strong stench below his nose. Glancing down, he wrinkled his brow. "Oh, that is just wrong. Didn't your parents ever teach you to wait until you had your pants off?" He tossed the soiled Jock away with a shudder of disgust. "I thought your kind never entered a library voluntarily, like vampires and churches."
"Rafael do something." Paulo commanded the other boy from where he sat on the floor.
"Yeah, Ralfie, do something." Vin sat back in his chair, cleaning out his finger nails with the tip of a silver dagger.
Rafael didnt move.
"I suggest you take your bitch and leave." Buck watched as Paulo walked out, gesturing for Rafael to follow. He turned to the others, once more human. "I was talking to Rafael."
Casey covered her mouth to keep from laughing out right.
Paulo flipped Buck off.
Vin walked over to the center of the floor and pulled his metal pen from the ground. Chunks of cement and carpet came away with it. Looking up at Rafael, he dusted it off and walked back to his seat.
Rafael left the room.
Inez looked over at Vin with wide eyes and snorted. "Just who the hell are you?"
"He's the new slayer."
Inez glanced over at Casey then back to Vin. "You're a girl?"
"NO!" Vin snapped and stormed out of hte library.
"Geeze, bite my head off, why don't ya." She switched her view back to her book, but after a second of silence, she peered up at the others. "What?"
JD walked over to where Inez sat. "He feels insecure being the only male slayer and having all the previous slayers memories."
"Why?"
"Why what?" JD asked her as he sat on the edge of hte table.
"Why is he such a big baby about being a slayer?"
"He just not sure how he fits into the whole slaying thing."
Casey rolled up beside JD and smacked him upside the head. "You would forget your head if it weren't.... Vin isn't just insecure, he is a complete head case. He can't remember being Vin. All he knows, all he remembers is of being a girl, many girls. So to be trapped in the body of guy, but with the memories of a girl, it is extremely confusing to him. Subconsciously, he knows he's a guy, but when he looks in the mirror, he expects to see something entirely different."
Inez gave them a skeptical look.
Buck stepped up beside the table, a bottle of something thick and amber in his hand. "Isn't it dangerous to let someone that volatile and powerful loose without the knowledge to control it?"
"It is." Casey said looking up at him. "That's one of the things I'm worried about."
Josiah sighed alerting the others to his presence at the office door. "Control is the one thing he doesn't need to learn about."
"How's that?" Casey questioned.
Putting the ice pack down, he stepped started going through the returned books. "Control is the first thing all slayers are trained. Since having learned he has their combined memories, I have focused on the other aspects of his training, mainly focusing on how to channel his more baser impulses into useful tacts."
"like what, Josiah?" Casey inquired as she turned toward him.
He took deep breath and let it out slowly. Looking up at her, he squinted at the lights of the library. "He is an average teenage boy with the strong sexual urges magnified by a hundred fold because he a slayer. But on the same hand of reasoning, he also has a hundred fold the self control of a normal boy his age."
"I see, so he can handle things better then say JD."
"More accurately, his self control will make even you, Ms. Wells, appear the most destitute of sluts." Josiah frowned at the snickers from the others in the room. "A nasty side effect of this is he will probably bond with the first person he is openly sexual with. Not a metaphysical, but psychological. He is not mature enough mentally for sexual interaction which just complicates things all that much more."
Casey thought on this and nodded. It did make sense and she found she was even more worried about it. "Have you talked to Charlotte about this?"
"She refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem. That infuriating woman believes that all can be solved with meditation and magic."
"She would."
Josiah didn't correct the young woman. "That is why it is the utmost of importance that I maintain some form of continual disicipline with him. The fact of the matter is, I have no way to maintain his interest and thus no influence on him."
Casey nodded.
JD took in the words and decided that he would need to keep an eye on his master. Vin didn't need to be bonding with the wrong kind of person. He did like being Vin's 'dog', but he was damned if he would let someone hurt him.
Inez glanced from to each of them. "So let me get this straight, you have a male slayer on your hands that will remain faithful to the person who pops his cherry?"
Josiah sighed. "It none of your affair."
"You call it an affair, I call it a steady boyfriend." Rising from her seat, she froze at a glare from the others. "Okay, so I was only partially planning. What do you need me to do? Because I am willing to sacrifice my body if it means keeping your slayer happy. I've heard slayers have remarkable stamina and really, it would be no big deal."
"He is not ready for that yet my dear." Josiah told her as he cleaned his glasses.
"Then I suggest you make him ready soon." Chris stepped out of the shadows of the stacks, careful to avoid the sunlight coming through the windows at the back of the library. "Ezra interupted them last night doing more than magic."
Josiah glanced up at the vampire. "Is that what brings you out of your hole?"
"I didn't come here to fight, Josiah, I just felt you should know what was goin on with your slayer." He adjusted his walk to compensate for the limp. "I had a run in with him last night afterwards. If my impression is anything to go by, she is setting him up for a big fall."
"Why do you say that?"
"I know the type, she doesn't want him, just the power he brings to the table. As for how I know about him, I won't go into details, lets just say you have to worry about him becoming sexually active very soon."
Josiah sighed. He didn't like the thought of being sexual active and he really didn't like the idea of Charlotte being involved in this. He didn't like Chris knowing so much about his slayer.
Chris placed his hands on his hips, waiting for a responce. "Well?"
"Why don't you crawl back into your hole." Inez put in looking at the vampire. "They don't want your imput."
"God, why don't you lay on your back and spready your legs, it'd be less obvious!" Casey glared at the amature witch with contempt. At their looks, she snapped. "What? She only insults the guys she wants to screw."
"I'm not interested." Chris told her, then to the others. "You do not seem very reseptive to my information."
"Well you'll just have to forgive us. The last few times we've met, you weren't exactly being friendly. In fact, I believe your exact words were 'I will see all of you screaming, begging me to end your existance.'" JD sneered at the vampire, standing to show he wasn't afraid. However, his intimidation tactics left a lot to be desired in the face of Chris' indifference.
"I'm amazed you accive anything the half assed way you do everything."
"Is that supposed to insult me, fang breath?"
"Shouldn't be hard, hydrant boy." Chris lifted his leg slightly to the side. "I know what you do at night."
"You know, that's a good one, pardner," Buck laughed out.
JD turned and glared at the half demon.
The doors to the library swung open to allow Vin entrance. He walked in, took notice of the room's occupants and scowled. "I came for my diaries."
"a bit possessive are we?" Chris intoned.
Vin ignored the vampire, walking directly through the sun beams to the table and picked up the leather bound books. He tossed his hair over his should to expose his neck when he bent down. Standing back up, he brushed a hand through the locks to replace them. He started back around the table to stand beside JD and grabbed the boy by the collar of his shirt. "Heel! Come!" Walking away, he dragged JD with him out of the library.
Chris chuckled. "See you later fido."
Casey smiled at the Vampire but quickly covered it with a yahn. "Wow, look a the time, gotta go to next period!"
"See you later, witchy poo." Chris said as Casey left. Chris sauntered down a shaded stair.
Josiah stared dumb founded at the Vampire, fingering the cross under the book return desk. "Witchie poo?"
Chris walked up and leaned on the counter, but not too close to Josiah. "Nervous watcher?"
"No, just anticipatory." Josiah leaned forward, his hand holding the cross in a death grip. "Just tell me you've lost your soul, I'll end it for you so fast!"
Chris leaned on one elbow and picked up a pencil. "I can't as I still have my soul. Beside if you kill me there would be a slightly miffed lawyer who's last name is Standish." Chris ran the eraser of hte pencil over the counter spelling said lawyer's name. Chris looked up again. "He might just have to say that you broke the tready." Chris snapped the pencil in two when he said broke. The resulting crack sounded like thunder in the silent library. Chris let the threat hang in the air as he sauntered back to the stair never taking his eyes off the watcher.
"I don't give a good bloody damn what that lawyer of yours thinks. Killing Christos would not break the treaty. In fact, it would be an imparitive of the treaty that you died." Josiah put the cross down, giving Chris a genuine smile. "Outside forces and all that."
"Been there, done that." Chris bowed as he stopped at the edge of the stacks, then he disappeared into them.
"I don't understand, why are you lot so afraid of that guy?" Buck stepped beside the book return taking a drink from his bottle.
Josiah lifted his glasses to rub the bridge of his nose. "He was once known as Christos. You can look his history up, but when him and the last slayer had..." Josiah paused. "When she got pregnant. He changed from Chris to Christos and reeked chaos and mayhem on this town. He tortured me." Josiah looked at the young man before him. "He was very evil at one time as is his sire."
"So why didn't you people, I dunno, hunt him down and kill him?" Buck shook his head. "I don't understand people sometimes. If you got a threat, you eliminate it."
"It's not quite that easy." Josiah stated. "I think you have some reading to do." Josiah found the book he wanted and handed to Buck. "Read this and it will explain it more fully. "I'm going ot get something for this bloody headache."
"No, you don't understand me." He put the book down and stepped in Josiah's way. "Why didn't you kill him?"
"Sarah sent him to hell and he came back." Josiah said feeling all the years in his body.
"Yeah, but sendin a guy to hell and killing him is two different things."
Josiah rubbed his forehead. "Dear boy, some are not as easy to kill you might think."
Buck raised his eyebrow and cocked his head with a grin. "That's where you are wrong. If you got the right weapons, it aint all that hard."
Josiah walked in his office and slammed the door.
Buck glanced over his shoulder at Inez and smiled. "Well, glad that we're alone." Walking over to her, he smiled. "What's a lady such as yourself doing in a place like this?"
Inez looked at him incredusly, then she rolled her eyes and walked out of the library.
Finishing off the cider, Buck tossed the bottle in the trash. "Looks like my work here is finished." He tapped on the office door. "Josiah, I'm off to continue the job hunt, see ya this afternoon or sooner if I got somethin!"
End Scene.
Here We Go
Ezra opened the door after the second knock, an annoyed twist to his lips disturbing his face. "May I help you, Mr. Sanchez?'
"Can we come in?" Josiah asked as he stood at the door with Than behind him.
"You most certainly not. Whatever business you have can be dealt with outside my domicile."
"Fine by me." Josiah said not letting the anntony get to him. "I've to find out some infromation you must have on our slayer."
"I have nothing on your slayer aside from what you already know, Mr. Sanchez. He is a thief and a runaway with no living relatives. What he is beyond that is your department." Ezra made as if to shut the door.
Josiah put his foot so Ezra couldn't close the door. "what about Charlotte."
"What is there to know about the esteemed Miss Harlotte?" Stamping his foot on Josiah's he forced the man to pull away from the house. Before he could close the door, a pair of arms wrapped around his waist and dragged him back into the house. "I proetest, Mr. Larabee. Cease and desist this assault upon my person!"
"You should let our guests in." Chris said then he lower his voice. "I show you assault upon your person later."
"Do not make promises you can not keep, Mr. Larabee." Holding out his wrist, the foldout dagger shot into his hand. He placed the dagger at Chris' crotch.
"You would miss it." Chris purred in his ear.
"Not as much as my sanity if you let that blow hard cross the threshold." Watching over Chris' shoulder, he saw Josiah and Than enter. "Wonderful, I can practically feel the need to do water colors and have debates with inanimate objects about post modern art films."
"You can't loose something you never had." Chris whispered as he let Ezra go.
Standing up, Ezra dusted himself off and glared at Josiah. "I do believe I shall retire for the evening. Feel free to conduct your business and then get out."
"You might want to hear what your 'friend' knows about our Miss Charlotte? He is the one you brought up that you visited my fellow watcher." Josiah told the lawyer. "You might want to know for your report to WolfRam and Hart. I'm sure you didn't get this job because you wanted to be here. You might find your way out here tonight."
"What does this vampire know that I do not?" Ezra sniffed in disdain. "I assure you it was I who knew to visit that witless whore! She is attempting to fuck the slayer and then depart with him as her own personally boy toy."
"And how did you manage to know when to visit?" Josiah asked as he shifted from one foot to the other.
"I have my means." Ezra tipped an imaginary hat at them and strolled out of the room.
Josiah rolled his eyes. God how could any one be so annoying. Josiah turned to Chris. "You seemed to have wanted us here. Please enlighten us." Josiah waved his hand between him and Than.
"I didn't want you here, Josiah." Glaring at the man, he leaned back against a wall. Chris pulled out a straw from a floral arrangement and chewed on it absently. "I wanted you to confront Ezra head on where he didn't have an escape. You seem to be good at getting blood from a stone and Ezra's head is as hard a rock as you will come across."
"I noted that. Why?" Josiah was curious now.
Chris shrugged. "I can't get anything out of the damn fool and threats don't work on him since the nature of our arrangement forbids him any harm."
"So are we to stand his livingroom until he decides to reappear." JOsiah ran a hand through his hair.
"No, I expect you to hound him until you get the information you seek, you are particularly good at that."
"Where am I going to do that his bedroom?" Josiah intoned, annoyed with himself, Ezra and Chris. Why does this always happen to me, Josiah wondered.
"Actually, it is his and mine." He grinned at the shitty looks that earned him.
"Whatever." Than finally spoke up. "Just get the man out here."
"No can do, you will have to go in and get him. Remember, I can't harm him." Chris smiled as he chuckled.
"I don't have a problem with that." Than said has he stepped passed Josiah.
A moment later Chris had a hard time keeping his face straight when he felt a tightening around his balls.
Than carried the protesting lawyer outof hte bed room
Ezra glared down at the hand that held him fast about the nuts with an offended air only one of long practice could attain. "Do you mind, sir, I hardly know you?"
"You can have the vampire's friendly touch later. the man has some questions and he wants answers. Give him what he wants or I'll just add a bit of pressure." Than illusated his words by doing just waht he said he would do.
Josiah kept an eye on the vampire as he watched Than humutate the lawyer.
"While I do enjoy your menstrations, Mr. Jackson, I must insist you put me down."
Than just added more pressure to the balls of his captive.
"I would drop him, whatever your name is, Ezra tends to like it rough." He enjoyed the abrupt dropping of the naked Ezra on the floor.
Josiah sighed as he rubbed the bridge off his nose under his glasses. He wondered if he should get go home and forget about everything.
Ezra stood in all his nude glory and dusted off his body hair with the air of comfort. "Why did you have this dark heathen drag me from my bed. And I warn you, be truthful and convince me not to have your posteriors arrested for assault."
"that's what we want, the truth." Josiah said looking Ezra in the eyes.
"Fine, let us drop all pretenence of civility and get down to it. Just what the hell do you want, Watcher?"
"What you know about Charlotte? What you are avoiding telling us?" Josiah said as he sat down tired of the games that had been going on. He put his feet up on the coffee table.
Ezra blew out air through his nose before starting. "Mrs. Richmond is a whore of the lowest form. She uses her body and her wit to lour young men of influence and power to her bed, seduces them and then breaks them to her will. She attempted to do this many times with people of the firm and those who fell for her charms ended up road kill. What she seeks with your slayer can only be a bad thing, Mr. Sanchez. I suggest you find any means you can to seperate the two."
Josiah nodded he agreement. "what about do you know about our young slayer? and don't tell he was a theif and has no living relatives. I've that before I want hear something new.?"
Josiah looked at Ezra making sure he was understood.
"Your slayer doesn't exist."
"Meaning?" Josiah glanced at Chris.
"That asside from a few official, yet easily forged documents, your slayer has no record of existance." Ezra snorted at the older man.
"Birth certicate?"
"Easily faked," he said with a dismissive wave of his hand.
"For not existing, he sure kicked your lover's ass." JOsiah said to Ezra but watched the vampire.
"A feather could kick Mr. Larabee's ass, but that is beside the point. What I am saying is your slayer is either a non-entity, not completely human, or someone is covering their asses by erasing his past. My guess would be the latter." Ezra yahned overly dramatic. "Is that all?"
Chris glared at Ezra's back.
"No I want to know why someone would do that and I want now."
"Why don't you stamp your foot and hold your breath, it would be in keeping with the image."
Josiah stood up and walked to Ezra. He looked him in the eyes. "I want to know what is going on or I can't stop our miss Chalotte. I think you would benefit from that too as if our Miss Charlotte beds our Mr Tanner could turn him against not only the watchers, but also WolfRam and Hart, starting with you mr. standish."
"I have no fear of you or the Watcher's Council, I no longer have a soul and your slayer is just a puppet. The question is who is pulling the strings." Ezra gave him a one finger salute and shoved him aside. "As to why someone would cover their tracks with that abomination your people are so intent on 'watching', I would think that would be obvious. Find out whoever is erasing his past and you will find who made the slayer a boy."
Josiah moved to keep his balance, then turned toward Ezra's retreating form "I do believe that you are the one with those kinds of resourses or I should call Mrs. Maude Standish and request her aid. I'll make sure she knows that her son isn't taking care of business."
"Do not threaten me, you pompous ass. We have tried and failed, the entire team was fed to Voresh demons for that effort. If you can do better, then quit wasting my time. Chris, I want them out of my house, now!" He pushed Josiah away and stormed into his bedroom.
"You heard the man, time for you kiddies to leave." Chris said from where leaned against the wall.
"Than, I believe we are going to get all we can tonight." Josiah turned on heel and stalked out the front door after the former gang banger.
