Weekly Promotion Challenge: The Magnificent Seven (TV show)
Welcome to the forth Weekly Fandom Promotion Challenge.
For the next seven days, we are hosting a drabble-a-thon where each entry is based around the chosen fandom. You will be given a set of seven daily prompts tailored to that fandom so you can write at least a 100 word drabble. There is no word limit, so by all means, go over if you like. Next Monday, we will start over with a new fandom.
Fandom Name: The Magnificent Seven
Fandom Level: General
Pairing: Any.
A Brief Description: When a small settlement out west in the late nineteenth century comes under threat from a rogue Confederate General, they come in to town looking for protection. Seven men from various walks of life gather together to defeat this man for the common good.
They decide to stick around for a couple days.
This plan soon changes to a little longer when one becomes the local sheriff and the Territorial Judge makes them all law men. Thirty days turns in to two seasons of wild mysteries and heart breaking confrontations. A gun slinger, a tracker, a ladies man, a reformed priest, a healer, a gambler, and the kid. Alone, they are trouble, together, they are the Magnificent Seven.
Links Of Interest: Black Raptor - Home of possibly the largest M7 fic archives. Along with their fiction, they have a writer's resources page, very useful. They have an Adult and a Slash archive, but you must send an age statement to the archivist to get their links.
Chris Larabee Archive - Another fiction archive that specializes in Chris Larabee, the unofficial leader of the Seven.
Daily Prompts:
Monday - One Day Out West, the guys officially become protectors of the town/territory. Give us a missing scene. Mood: Excited.
Tuesday - Lady love lost, the guys are always going after some crazy dame/broad/lady they can't land. Why do you think this is so? Mood: Lost In Love.
Wednesday - Slash was every where. From the subtle hints of Buck/Chris and their old relationship, to the blatant moments that were Ezra/Vin, whatever happened to that interest Vin never paid? JD's eager to please! Love is in the air, and the guys are feeling frisky. Give your pairing that completion the show never allowed. Mood: Seeing The Subtext.
Thursday - Psst, AU, Buddy! You like M7, you gotta like the AUs. Give us your take on one or more. Mood: Creative.
Friday - Horses play an important part in their lives. Vin's is fanon named Peso. Give us a good Horse story, if not for us, for Peso. Mood: Needy.
Saturday - Chris was left knowing who killed his wife, but unable to get revenge. Vin was left out. Since they are the popular pairing, today is dedicated to them. Mood: Soulful.
Sunday - The Seven never got their sunset. Give us a 'final scene' drabble. Mood: Drifting off!
Reward: All participants get this lovely Magnificent Hee-Haw, HOW-DY 'The Magnificent Seven' icon.
Jerry's Final Thought: While the show as only on the air for barely 2 seasons, it inspired a great many people. One thing that is undeniable is the sheer slash factor of seven men with very few women. While the show chose to ignore this fact, homosexuality was indeed a strong part of the old west life. One did not need to be gay to enjoy the company of men, but it sure helped.
Oh, and there were heterosexuals back then, too, but we'll just keep that our dirty little secret.
If you have stories about this week's theme, feel free to share with us. All stories should be posted to the asylum, not as a reply to this post. Just think of this post as a notice on a bulletin board.
