Once, in each generation, there was born a slayer. She alone was the chosen to stand against the forces of darkness. Imbued with demi-god like powers, the slayer was the left hand, the end of all life. She is no more.
Here We Go
Sarah caught the sword's blade flat between her palms. Her eyes suddenly opening, she looked up at the sneering face of Christos. "Me!" She took advantage of his sudden shock by jerking the sword from his hand. The blade flipped handle over tip and landed in her hand. "When you take away everything, the only thing left is me and that's more than enough to kick your ass."
"Won't be able to do it." Christos snarled watching her.
"Dream on, lover." Sarah bit out the last word with more acid than she thought possible. Bringing the sword up, she swung at his neck.
Christos flipped backward to avoid Sarah's swing and recovered her sword.
Sarah put her free hand on the small of her back. Using her right foot, she put it under her body and pushed up. Her unsteady, pregnant frame caused her to sway slightly. A sudden pain caused her to wince and grab at her stomach. "Seven and a half months and this is what it takes to make you do back-flips?"
"Well my dear, I think it has something to do with that pig sticker that you are holding."
Bringing the sword up in front of her, she blinked wide eyed at it. "What, this old thing?" She twisted it over hand then under hand in a figure eight before pointing at him. "Shall we dance?"
"If you insist." Christos moved the sword in from of him, stepping sideways.
Her hand shot out, the sword striking downwards to bite into his shoulder.
Chirstos winced. He stepped against and brought his sword to meet hers.
Spinning backwards, Sarah narrowly avoided the silent blade. As she came round to face him again, her arm came up to strike him in the face. The first hit caught him across the nose driving him backwards. "Every moment, every taunt, every blow, every death was meaningless. You don't matter, not to me, not anymore."
"After I get the sword from you little momma, you'll see what I can do." Christos swung again.
Sarah tried to do a back flip, but ended up sprawled on the ground as her center of gravity readjusted. Pain shot down the center of her body ending between her legs. She ignored the cramping muscles, climbing back to her feet. Gritting her teeth against each contraction, she narrowed her eyes and brought the sword up in a fighting stance. "Prepare to die, Christos."
Christos chuckled. "I think you have that wrong."
"Keep it up, laughing boy, it only serves to distract you all the more." Dropping to the floor, her foot shot out. Her side sweep took his feet out from under him. As he fell, she swung the sword grazing his abdomen.
"You drew first blood." He observed as he ran his fingers over the wound. "I'll finish this then."
"I can't believe it, all this time I have been afraid of just another cliched villain. What was I thinking?" Shaking her head, Sarah pushed off from the floor to land on her feet.
Christos raised an eyebrow. "If you only knew how long it is going to take for me to kill you." In one swift move Christos was on his feet, sword at the ready.
She took in her surroundings, noting the position of the fancy furniture, the demon in front of her, and the stone Acathala behind him. It was time to end it, permanently. Sarah swung the blade like a club, the flat smacking Christos' hand with an audible crack. Growling her anger and pain, she brought up the blade and started to spin for the killing blow but froze at his gasp.
"Sarah." Chris dropped his sword.
Sarah scarcely breathed. It couldn't be. They had said it was possible, for Chris to get his soul back, but he had attacked her friends, putting Casey and JD in the hospital. Xander had a broken wrist but still came to get Josiah. Christos had tortured Josiah for the secrets to resurrect the demon... Sarah glanced at Chris, blinking back tears. "Chris?"
"Sarah, I can't remember the last several month. It's mostly a blur. It was like a nightmare that I couldn't wake up from." Chris stepped forward.
Chris moved toward her, his feelings guiding him. His sorrow and regret needing to be comforted. He needed her.
Chris reached for her.
Still holding the sword at the ready, Sarah took a shuddering breath. It couldn't be! They would have told her, they would have said something!
"Sarah, I'm here now." Chris moved closer to her, needing to feel her in his arms.
"How can I be sure it's really you?"
"because it is." Chris took another step closer, reaching out to embrace her.
Sarah closed her eyes as the arms surrounded her. Tears started down her face despite her self-control. "Chris."
"Shh." Chris pulled her into an embrace.
Slowly, she relaxed into it, allowing the memories of the past almost eight months slip from her mind to focus on him now. She wanted it to be okay, wanted him to make it okay. A sudden noise beyond his shoulder made her tense up. Opening her eyes, she saw the stone demon's eyes glow and mouth open.
Chris kissed her as she tensed.
Sarah allowed his lips to take control of her own, to let him control the kiss, to distract her from the present. When he pulled back, she wanted to scream at him never to let go. But it was too late. She brought up her free hand and clutched at his face. "Close your eyes."
Chris closed his eyes, puzzled.
Shakily, Sarah slipped back from his arms. Her hand covered his eyes as she froze her emotions. It must be done.
"Sarah." Chris questioned.
A brilliant flash of orange light signaled the opening of the vortex behind Chris' shoulder. Sarah stared at him a moment before setting her features. With a quick thrust, she slammed the sword through his heart.
Chris opened his eyes shocked and surprised. He was sucked backwards into the vortex, he reached for her, pain clear on his face.
He was pulled backward until he disappeared.
Sarah's hands unconsciously went to her face. She watched horrified as the portal closed taking Chris with it. Standing there breathless, she felt a sudden gut wrenching cramp wrack her body. The spasms she had been fighting all day grew in intensity until her vision blurred and blackened.
After the pain had dulled a little, she reached down to her pants leg. Looking at her now wet palm, she frowned at the redness. That wasn't right. Something was wrong. Stumbling, she grabbed at the wall for support. Another muscle spasm forced her to her knees.
Fighting the rising pain, she crawled to the front door of the mansion and out into the yard. Just beyond the blurred field of her vision, she could make out shapes moving. Survival instincts told her she needed to reach them if she wanted to live. Standing on wobbly knees, she took a shaky step forward. One after another, she slowly made it to the street ahead. The blurs resolved themselves into cars a moment before she fell to her knees.
This time, when her knees hit the ground she kept going. By the time her head hit the hot pavement, her eyes were wide and unblinking.

The nurse glanced over the last of the paperwork, her sigh saying she was clearly unhappy with this. "It looks like everything else is in order. The doctor just signed off on it. Despite what he thinks, I still believe you are making a mistake taking him so early." Looking up at the curly haired woman in front of her, she sighed again. "Mrs. Summers, don't you think you could at least wait the full six weeks for premmies? I mean your grand son was born as his mother died, the stress of her death alone was enough to place his already fragile existence in jeopardy."
"I know you have concerns, but I have the resources to care for him. I will take good care of him. He is my only grandchild I will not put him in more danger then I have to."
"But still...."
"You're concern is noted." Joyce told the woman as she looked at her.
"Fine." Handing over the discharge papers, she turned and walked back to retrieve the screaming infant. When she returned, she had the baby wrapped in three thick blankets, his little pink head in a stocking cap, and sleeper outfit. He continued to scream until she handed him off to his grandmother. The moment the baby was in her arms, he stopped. Looking at the other woman, the nurse shook her head. "He hasn't stopped but to rest and take another breath."
"I raised his mother I'll be able to care for him." Joyce patted his back.
"If he responds so well now, I have no doubt about later." She smiled at his recently turned green eyes as they opened to look at her. "Such a beautiful baby, Adam, yes you are." Finding herself cooing over the baby, she cleared her throat and adjusted her smock. "If there is anything you need, don't hesitate to call us."
Joyce nodded as she watched her grandson.
The squealing of another infant made the nurse turn to see what had caused the child to cry out. Seeing that she was just being changed by another nurse, she turned back to Joyce smiling. However, her eyes widened and she paled. "Mrs. Summers?" Looking around, the large entrance to the nursery was empty. The security doors were still sealed shut and she hadn't opened them. She headed towards the doors, hand out. She found them still locked tight. "Mrs. Summers?" There was no response. Panicked, she darted throughout the ward checking in rooms and closest. "Mrs. Summers?"

The library echoed with the footsteps of Xander as he paced. JD, watched the boy stomp back and forth from the stairs to the card catalog and back again. Each time it looked like he would come towards the table, towards him and Casey, JD would tighten his grip around her.
Casey leaned against JD not caring about what was going on, she had lost her friend, then Sarah's mother had taken Sarah's son to god knows where. She wanted to see the tike and make sure he was fine, but she couldn't. She sighed.
Xander stopped. His hands unclenched from his sides and he stomped up to the table. Slamming them down on the flat surface, he ignored Casey's jump. "We have got to do something. It is time, past time! They have hurt us too much and I think it is high time we strike back. Not something small like one or two of their people, I mean something big. Huge even!"
"Xander, we can't do anything at the moment. We have nothing prepared. We need Josiah's help." JD rubbed Casey's back.
"I'm not asking." Standing up, his face set in the now normal scowl. "We are going to do something about this and we are going to do it now."
"Like what?" JD shifted in his chair.
"Like the hellmouth." Casey shook off JD's arm.
"Like what?" JD looked at Casey. He kinda stupid felt about saying the same thing twice, but he didn't know what else to say.
"We seal the hellmouth, permanently." Standing up, she started back towards the library's office. "Josiah has a book that contains spells to open and seal mystical portals."
JD got up and headed after her. "I don't think we know enough to do that."
"I know plenty! Remember, Josiah has been teaching Inez and me enough about magic to handle ourselves." Casey started riffling through the desk drawer until she found the key. Taking it out, she turned around and fitted it into the lock on the book safe.
"I know plenty! Remember, Josiah has been teaching Inez and me enough about magic to handle ourselves." Casey started riffling through the desk drawer until she found the key. Taking it out, she turned around and fitted it into the lock on the book safe.
"Casey, you and Inez don't know enough together to close the Hellmouth together, much less alone." JD took her hand.
Xander pulled JD back from Casey when she groaned in anger. "Leave the lady be, she knows what she is doing. Besides, we both know enough to pull her back if she starts to go too far."
He turned toward Xander. "That is if we see that it is going to far, what if we don't?" JD growled.
"There is a simple way to know. The circle starts to fail." Moving over to the desk, Xander picked up the black sack sitting on top of it. "Salts from the dead sea to form a barrier. If she starts to lose control, the barrier will waver."
JD looked from Casey to Xander. "You guys know if this backfires, it could open the hellmouth instead of closing it."
"No, it won't," Casey said with mild irritation. She snorted with laughter. "If it back fires, we'll all be sucked into whatever hell dimension is closest."
"We should wait for Josiah, he will be able to help." JD countered stepping toward them.
"You do whatever you want, we are going to do this with or without you. I am tired of waiting around for something else to happen!" Casey brushed past him and out of the office with the book. Her eyes started to tear up again and she rubbed at them. "I am not going to die alone in my bathroom like Cordelia because her parents were too fucking stupid to pay attention to who they invited in their house! If you want to be turned into Cordelia soup, then go ahead, but leave me out of it!"
JD let his head drop to his chest. Cordelia wasn't his favorite person, but she didn't deserve to die the way she had, not one deserved that.
Xander stepped up beside Casey and looked down at the book. Upon seeing the necessary ingredients, he cursed. "Damn it! These are impossible to get. We will have to wait at least two weeks before we can start the spell!"
JD looked up. "Then Josiah should be able to help us with this then."
"Wrong again, oh furry one." On his way out, Xander reached for his coat off the hook near the door. "Even if he woke up today, there would still be too much rehab and resting for him to help in floating a pencil, let alone sealing the hellmouth."
"Bite me." JD growled
"Not today, wolf boy." With a dark chuckle, Xander slipped through the library doors.
JD walked up to Casey. "Casey will you think about this."
Looking up from the book, Casey shook her head. "No. I have been thinking about it for two weeks and for two weeks nothing else. This is all I have left. Without our friends, our protection, we are as good as dead. It is only just a matter of time."
"Casey, I don't want anything to happen to you." JD put his hands on her cheeks.
"Then don't hold back on this one. You always do, no matter how much I try to, you never seem to give it all to me." Leaning forward, she pressed a kiss to his lips. When he didn't respond, Casey pulled back. "Can't you just trust me completely for once?"
"Casey, please think about this." JD asked her.
Casey removed his hands from her face. Pushing them away, she picked up the book and walked out.
JD noticed a movement in the shadows and moved to watch it, but seem like he was getting a book.
"Dissention in the ranks, uh oh, whatever shall you do." Eli Joe stepped out of the stacks, his game face smiling. "Hello, little puppy, long time no see."
"What do you want?" JD asked as he stepped backward.
"The usual: blood, violence, mayhem. However, tonight, I want to make sure you have kept your end of our little bargain." When JD didn't respond, the vampire's voice went low and throaty. "The death of your friends was tragic, but it would grieve me greatly to have to kill your lover." Stepping further into the library, he leaned against the guard rail over the stairs. "Vin is a very important part of my plans, but he not even he is irreplaceable."
He knew what the vampire wanted to hear. It pained JD to have to agree. "No one will," JD told the vampire.
"Good, good. I am glad we had this chat." Clicking his finger, he closed one eye and pretended to shoot JD. "See ya around, kid."
JD rolled his eyes heavenward. Damn if it wasn't one thing it was another.

Kendra stared at the guy in front of her. She could hardly believe this was the same boy who had been smiling only moments before. Aiming her knife, she made a quick threatening gesture. "Dhere must be some mistake. You can't be tellin the truth. Just hand back over dey bag and I'll forget dis ever happen."
Vin watched her, he stepped back.
"Oh no ya don't! Give me back my bag, Vincent!" She matched him step for step.
Vin side stepped, making sure he didn't end up without a way out. "You don't need these."
"I damn sure do, boy! Now hand them over, I ain't tellin ya again!" She lunged at him with her knife, jumping to land where he had just been. She landed with a screech of anger as he ducked out of the alley and ran for it. "Get back here, tief! Tief!"
Vin didn't look back as he ran for a hiding place where she wouldn't find him. He had learned to hide good.
Slamming her fist into the packing crates she had landed on, Kendra screamed her anger. "Damn it!" Rolling over, she sat up and glared at the spot where Vin had taken the bag from her. Just five minutes earlier she and he had been taking yet another tour of the city. Her watcher had been out of town for three weeks and she had been feeling funny. Vin had been the bright spot in the miserable sojourn to L.A. That is until he had taken her bag and split. "You were told not to trust anyone, Kendra, now you've just lost your weapons cache. Congratulations, dumb ass!"
"Is something wrong?" A young lady asked the angry slayer.
Kendra looked up at the voice. "Where'd you come from?"
"That isn't important." She said with a wave of her hand.
"It is if you wish to remain in one piece, girl." Kendra held up the dagger, blade out.
"Put that thing away." Anya waved at the dagger. "You are why I'm here."
"Oh yeah, why's dhat?"
"You seem to have a slight problem." Anya looked in the direction that Vin had went.
Snorting, Kendra put the dagger down. "You ain't a threat, just a nosy body." She did a backroll, then landed on her feet. Sometime during the maneuver, the dagger had disappeared in her clothes. "What do you want?"
"The question is what do you want." Anya said as she watched the girl.
"What I want? How about a normal life." Glancing at the girl's clothes, Kendra shook her head. "I want to look like you, not have to worry that every person is out to get me."
"Who would take your place?"
"Dhat's an easy one!" Dusting herself off, Kendra started out of the alley. "Teach that little boy what it really is like to never know when your breath might be your last, to never be normal." Glancing down at her now empty hip, she shook her head. "I want him to know what those things he took from me are for and just how very much I need them." At the mouth of the alley, Kendra sighed. "Vincent, I wish you knew the pain of being a potential slayer." With that, she stalked off quickly to get back to her hotel room and the remainder of her weapons.
Anya's face shifted into her demon visage. "As you wish." Her eyes flared black then she disappeared.
Vin sat looking that the stuff he had pilfered. He was holding a silver cross, he knew it was worth some money. He pulled out a stick with one end sharpened to a point. He looked at it, turning it around in his hand. "What the hell is this?"
Anya appeared standing over Vin. "You should prepare yourself, this is really going to be quite painful and you might want to be sitting down. Also, I would suggest you put away the pointy weapons, you could get hurt," she told him in a cheerful voice.
Vin jumped to his feet. "How the hell did you get in her? Get out."
"No, I think not." Grabbing her necklace, she placed it around his neck. In a flash of swirling clouds and light, she disappeared.
Vin reached to pull the strange necklace off. He stopped when searing pain racked his body, bring him to his knees. He hoarse cry escaped his lips.
Anya watched Vin's body shake with pain through the portal. Several others gathered, brought by his screams of pain. She nodded with a smile as the murmured their ahs. "He is in a lot of pain, isn't he."
The others nodded as Vin grabbed his head and howled in pain.
A blue, horned demon with black eyes swirled into existence beside Anya. He watched Vin's body convulse until his eyes rolled up. D'Hoffryn nodded his approval when the boy's shrieks turned into horse grunts and he started to salivate. "Our little thief of hearts has stolen his last tarts."
"It seems he has a new destiny."
D'Hoffryn began to chuckle. "You always did like to make the biggest of impacts from the smallest of wishes."
"It was a good wish."
"They always are." Vin's body gave one last twitch and then he fell silent. D'Hoffryn began clapping, soon followed by the others. Leaning into Anya, he whispered. "Of course you realize that if the others get word of this, you will be hunted down and executed."
"Then they must not." Anya said as she watched the still boy.
"No, they mustn't." He glanced at the others then back to Anya. "The person who blabs about this to another race shares whatever fate befalls our Aneyanka."
The others nodded silently.

Casey built an altar out of branches there was a bronze bowl in the middle. She lit some incense and some black candles around the area.
JD shifted the heavy bag of sand as he kept pouring it in a circle. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched Casey work and sighed. "I still think this is a big mistake."
"JD it will be fine." Casey muttered as she lit another candle.
"Yeah, trust in the force, young jedi." Xander stuck the rest of his pizza slice in his mouth and chewed it quickly. "Where did you want the Yack's blood, Case?"
"Next to the altar." She told him.
"Oh, duh! I meant which side. There are five of them, after all. The spell is very specific that way." Lifting the bronze urn, he carefully carried the blood towards the altar.
"Over there." Casey pointed.
"That's the far side!" Grumbling, Xander lugged his cargo to the north point. "Fine, done. Now what?"

The Master's eyes narrow as he sat up straight. "Someone is casting magic over my child."
Ella gave a disgusted sigh. "What child? I am your only remaining blood."
The Master frowned. "The hellmouth, what else would it be."
"Well what do you want me to do about it?" Ella's tone said she wasn't really interested.
"I want to you and some of the others to go and stop whoever it is." The Master stood and walked to the barrier.
"Whatever for? They will probably get sucked into a hell dimension and then we won't have to do squat." She bit at a finger nail when it snagged on her hair. Removing the broken tip, she began to file the rest.
"Because I told you to." Demanded the Master.
"Oh, look out, the ancestor is getting upset!" Spike started laughing around his cigarette. Blowing smoke toward the barrier, he leaned back against the cave wall.
The master smiled. "Anointed One you can deal with anyone that refuses my order in any way you wish."
Ella sighed. Grabbing her file, she stood up and walked out.
The Master looked around. "Any one else?"

Checking the measurements on the machine, Nurse Carla marked them on her clip board.
Josiah awoke, he gasped for air.
Jumping back, Carla put a hand to her face. After calming down a bit, she ran for the call monitor.

JD walked up to where Xander was standing. "Now what?"
Casey lifted her head from the book, her eyes flowing black. "Now we begin."
JD looked at her, then nodded. "What do we do?"
Closing her eyes, Casey raised her hands. The sand circle lit up an transparent, red tinted barrier shot up from it. "Now we fight."
"She would say that." JD told Xander.
"No," Xander whispered, pointing at the door. "They would." Grabbing a squirt gun from his belt holster, he aimed it at the vamps and squeezed the trigger.
JD shifted to his wolf man form.
Ella strode through the doorway, shoving them open for Druscilla, Spike and six other blood suckers she couldn't give a rat's ass to remember the names of. She was sick of this place and all the whiney brats that inhabited it. Just being here made her skin crawl, or was that the magic the little bitch at the center of the room was playing at. "Well, well, well, it looks like he was right. Just what do you think you children are up to?"
"Go and crawl under your rock." JD growled as he glanced at Casey.
Ella nodded at one of the nameless vampires. "Get the girl!"
The aforemention vampire rushed toward his target. When he hit the barrier he became a cloud of dust.
Xander whistled in appreciation then turned back to face the others. "Bug zapper 1, Vampire zero. Who's next?" When they backed away, he pouted. "Oh come on, fanged and nasties. Let's play."
Ella smiled. "Get the boys." Ella motioned for the vampires to attack.
Eyes flaring yellow, JD reared up and attacked the first of the on coming vampires. The first minion didn't stand a chance, his left hand came swiping through and ripped its head from its body. It turned to dust as he leapt on another.
Xander moved to the side and squirted a vampire, turning it to dust.
Ripping the throat of the last of the minions, JD roared his triumph. With a wet snap, he twisted then complete tore its throat out.
Spike threw a book at Xander hitting his water gun which fell to the ground, then Spike rushed him.
Xander fell to the ground kicking out sending the vampire sprawling beside him as they landed. Rolling to his feet, he kicked at Spike's head.
Spike rolled away from him and shook off the daze from the kick, standing he faced off with the boy.
Biding her time, Druscilla smiled at the werewolf. "Puppy's been playing in the flowers again. Bad doggy, mummy is going to have to punish you."
The werewolf growled and stepped sideways watching the vampire.
Circling to the other side, Druscilla picked up a large book from the library table and rolled it up, breaking the leather cover. "Time for your lessons, puppy."
"I don't need none of your lessons, Looney Dru." JD countered as he watched her and moved in a circle, keeping her away from him.
Casey watched her friends through the barrier and knew there was only one chance to get this right. She had hoped to have their support and energy when the time came, but that was beyond her grasp. Closing her eyes, she began to chant. "DĂșnfaimid an Duirwaigh..." The moment the words left her lips, the power from hellmouth shot through her and she screamed.
JD looked over at Casey, calling her name.
The power seized her and controlled her body. Taking command, it forced her towards the voices. Before she could focus on JD, movement caught the hellmouth's attention. Raising her hand, the energy shouted, "Go hifreann leat!" A bolt of energy shot out from her and disabled the barrier and striking the ground where Xander and Spike fought. When the brilliant energy cleared, both were gone.
Druscilla, seeing Spike's death, shrieked in rage. Raising the book above her head, she slammed it down on JD's shoulder. When he raised an arm to block her blow, she slammed it down with all her strength, breaking it. She hit him again and again until he was on the floor broken and bloodied. By the time she let go of the book, she was shaking and sniffling. The vampire fell to her knees and stopped moving, eyes wide and unseeing.
Ella moved through were the barrier had been and walked up to the girl. She grabbed her by the neck. "You should not play with others toys." Holding the girl by the neck, Ella stabbed her hand in to Casey's back, snapping the girl's spine.
Casey cried out in pain, then shock when she could no longer feel her legs.
Ella removed her hand from the girl's back, she let her fell to the ground. The vampire bent down and wiped her hand off in disgust. She walked over to where Dru was. Dragging Druscilla, she walked out. "Come along, Dru."
All was silent in the library for a time until the padding of bare feet and heavy breathing intruded. Josiah came limping into the library, his hospital gown flapping behind him. Catching sight of the war zone his domain had become, he ran into the office, ignoring his own pain. Picking up the phone, he hit speed dial and waited. "Hello, I need an ambulance at the High School Library at once. Yes, that one, please hurry."

Ezra Standish, attorney at Law, and Hellmouth Liason for WolfRam and Hart, adjusted his tie and smirked at the representative of the watchers' council. His people were spread out around the room so he had no fear that this man or any of his people would attack. "Certainly you understand my position in this, Mr. Travis. I can not, in good faith, allow you to bring in your warlocks. The temporary truce between yours and the master's people strictly forbids the movement of any new magics to the Hellmouth aside from a slayer."
"So you are saying that the slayer is the only one that can come here," Travis said watching the slick lawyer.
"No." Turning his chair, Ezra glanced over at the representative for the Master, Ella Gaines. "Your only ally with any form of magic or special abilities that may enter the neutral zone of Sunnydale has to be a slayer. Other wise, you forfeit the Hellmouth and must pull back all your people."
"That's what I just said." Travis looked at the master's representative.
"No, you stated that the slayer was the only one allowed to come. I made it clear that of your special allies, only the slayer may come. Any being proven a normal human may enter or leave the Hellmouth." Grasping a pen from the meeting table, he wrote a few words on his legal tablet. "Is there anything else you wished to discuss it, or was it just this recent intent of troop movement the only thing on the agenda?"
"What of the new Slayer?" Josiah asked from his seat.
Ezra regarded the older, spectacled man with a level gaze. "There is no new slayer."
"That can't be." Josiah said as he stood.
"Please sit down, Mr. Sanchez." Not waiting for the an to comply, he turned back to the Council's representative. "Trust me, Mr. Travis, we have searched everywhere. There is no new slayer, she simply doesn't exist." He looked back to Josiah. "And no, it isn't our fault. We have nothing to do with why Mubahto's slayer, Kendra was not called. Though she was next in line, she was never called. In fact, our research says she no longer even has the potential for it, that she never did."
"Why the hell not? We know that she did, so what happened." Josiah said looking the man straight in the eyes.
"Sit down, you English blow hard! Keep this up and we might start to think that there is something more than sugar in your tea." Ella leaned back in her chair, putting her legs up on the table wide enough to display she wore nothing underneath her mini skirt.
Josiah rolled his eyes as he did anyways. "I still want an answer."
"That is something you will have to find out for yourself, nothing else we can say you will believe." Standing up, Ezra paused mid rise. "There is something we have been saving, gentlemen, but it will not be easy for any involved."
"Which is?" Travis asked looked at the lawyer.
"There is a locater ritual that we can trace the path of supernatural energy that is passed through predestined selection. The slayer lineage is a prefect example of this. However." Ezra stressed the word. "There is a catch to it. It would require a personal item of the person who last possessed the energy covered in their blood. The ritual also calls for the sacrifice of a Virgin."
"You are saying we should sacrifice a virgin." Josiah said appalled.
"Well the spell was a bit more specific, it says to the letter, a virginity."
Smirking at the watchers, Ezra stood up fully and grabbed his legal pad. "If you have the sheets Christos deflowered her on then both requirements are met. If you do, bring them here tonight at midnight, if not, bring a bloody personal effect and a virgin willing to be plundered in the name of the greater good. Good day, gentlemen." Walking past the laughing Ella, Ezra ignored her, favoring her with a "Bitch" as she moved to follow.
Josiah looked around the room shocked.
"Sit down, Josiah." Travis sighed deeply. They were now alone in the town hall city council room. He turned to Mubahtu, raising an eyebrow at the Jamaican watcher. "Are you absolutely sure the spell originally led to Kendra?"
"It did. I don't understand I was watching and training her until about a twelve weeks ago. She was doing well." Mubahtu told them.
"Recent testing has proven that even your training has been in vain. She is no better than a common girl her age, and without the slayer abilities, she is a far sight worse. You will cut all ties with Kendra and send her back to her family, with a tidy sum to keep them silent." Orin took a deep breath, then lowered his head in thought. "Do we still have the sheets, Josiah?"
Josiah didn't look at Travis. "JD and Casey are in the hospital. Xander is missing and Cordelia is dead." Josiah looked at Travis. "Your own son, Steve is missing."
"I did not ask for a status report on your social misfits! Just answer the damn question, do we have those sheets or not?"
Josiah shook his head and leaned back in his chair, looking crossed the room.
Glancing over at the other watcher, Orin narrowed his eyes. "My son made his choice when he came to Sunnydale to help you with that damned slayer. If she had just stuck with the rules about dealing with vampires, none of us would be here now."
Josiah sat quietly. He didn't response.
"Very well." Turning to Mubahtu, Travis tilted his head to the side. "Bring the dagger of Suroght, the one the Master used to cut her last year when he tried to rise by using her as sacrifice." Standing, his face took on a look of dark humor. "I have a call to make to a certain friend in the firm of the Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart that will take care of our virgin problem."
"We do not have them."
Mubahtu turned to his fellow watcher after Travis had left the room. "I do not believe anyone has. Dhere was nothing left of the vampire Chris' apartment after Christos was through tearing it apart."
Josiah sighed. He didn't like this. It wasn't right.
"Dhis ritual will locate the next slayer and will allow us to finally tip the scales of this war in our favor. Once we have control of the Hellmouth, then we can worry about what is right and wrong." Standing Mubahtu, offered to preceed Josiah out of the room. "Come, my friend, you have children who look to you for comfort in this most difficult of times. How about you show me this Sunnydale before I must return home and disappoint my Kendra."
Josiah nodded before he stood and followed Mubahtu out of the room.

She smiled as the phone picked up promptly on the second ring. "Ezra dear, how goes the negotiations on the Hellmouth?"
Ezra rolled his eyes heavenward. "They are going to have to cast the spell at Midnight."
"No, darling boy, you will be casting the spell at Midnight." She tugged at the hem of her business suit skirt and then sat back in the leather chair. The office was still being remodeled after her most recent 'Firing'.
"Yes, mother."
Cricking her head to the side, she popped her neck. "I hear there is a special ingredient to this ritual that they are lacking."
"That is right." Ezra sighed and looked around him.
"What would that missing element happen to be?" Studying her name plate, Maude traced 'Maude Manners' with her fingers and sighed contentedly. "Come, don't be bashful, your former stepfather did not bring you in to this firm because you held your tongue. I like to think he was a very wise man when it came to his business decisions. However, his personal decisions left a great deal to be desired. Oh well, his sacrifice is my gain."
"There need to be a sacrifice of virginity."
"Ah, excellent." Her voice carried a pleased tone, but she knew he understood she wasn't quite finished. "Compliance is non aggression, do you understand?"
"I understand mother." Ezra said as the spell took hold of him.
"You will provide them with what they need?" Despite her words, both of them knew she wasn't asking.
"I will." Ezra confirmed.
Sitting forward, she waved at the secretary to bring her the head on the silver platter she held. "Wonderful. I know you will do us all proud. In fact, this will do well to cover the fact it has taken you three months to get this far. The Senior Partners are not pleased with your failure to deliver a fast resolution and return to our fold. That Lilah Morgan you have been in rivalry with has been winning cases left and right. If you pull this one off, it will go far to negate the influence she has gained. Do not fail, my son. Good day." Setting the phone down, she picked up her napkin and a fork. Maude searched the tray then looked up at the secretary expectantly. "No ketchup?"
Ezra hung up the phone and went to prepare things.
"Easy for you to say, Mother, it's not your virgin posterior that will be offered up!"

Here We Go
The red eyed demon with brown spikes covering his green skin looked up at the thug. His blood drip from his mouth in a continuous flow. Shaking his head to clear the double vision, his knees gave out and he landed on his back. "Come on, fellas, I was just askin if the lady wanted company, honestly!" He didn't see the next kick that knocked him out.
"Yeah, right." The thug kicked him again.
One of the group backed away, then turned and ran to get Than.
Laughing at the demon, he pulled out a large knife with a serrated edge on the back. He knelt down and reached out to grab the the demon's hair. "No one fucks with one of our bitches, you disgusting fuck!" Putting the blade to the half demon's throat, he started to draw a line across it with the flat. "Gonna skin you alive mother fucker!"
A primal cry echo in the alley as the thug's knife dropped to the ground the hand still holding it. The thug grabbed his bleeding wrist, screaming in pain. A cut across his chest had him looking up at his attacker. He saw the light brown hair that moved with the attacker, but he knew it would have fallen just beyond the man's shoulders. He saw the slayer's blue eyes which was the last thing he saw as darkness covered everything as he head fell from his shoulders.
Bringing up their guns, the gang thought to shoot the psychotic fool. But when they looked at where he just was, another of them fell dead, his body falling in three different directions. Shots rang out as another one fell screaming, but his cries too were silenced quickly. More screams filled they alley before they all ended abruptly. Only eerie silence was left in the alley as the figured disappeared in the shadows.
Opening now brown eyes, the half demon's human side paled at the sight around him. Groaning, he held his head and stood on shaky legs. He took one last look at the carnage and ran off in the opposite direction the gang had come from before they jumped him. Now was a good time as any to move on, L.A. had suddenly gotten too dangerous for his tastes. There was a sweet little bar in a place called Sunnydale who's owner owed him a few favors. Time to make a call on old slick willy.
Than followed the snitch.
"I told you, man, they were up to no good! This is the third one this week they got a hold of that wasn't bother no one. They didn't even know it was a demon dude until Gerome punched him in the gut! Man, it ain't right, they ain't supposed to be punchin people, don't matter if he was a demon dude or not, he was just hittin on Maria. She can handle herself, she don't need no thug goin all Conan on her!"
The kid growled as he continued to bounce slightly ahead of Than. "Yo, yous are leader and they respect you. I know you told them not to be doin it, but they are still huntin the others that ain't vamps."
Than held up his hand to quiet the kid.
"Wha...."
Than looked around the alley, shocked written on his face. It began to change to anger.
"What is goin.... Oh sweet Jesus Christ!" Deric froze mid step as he looked at the blood drenched alley. Not a single foot was left untouched by blood and gore of his fellow bangers. "Wha.... what the fuck did this, Than?"
"I don't know, not yet anyway." Than said angrily.
"We have to...." Deric looked up at the sirens in the distance. "We have to get out of here!"
Than nodded and they took off.
Above the alley, a pair of blue eyes watched the two gang members run off in the distance. It didn't matter, he had achieved his objective. Turning over the business card, he read the scrawl on the back. "Willy. SunnyDale." His eyes narrowed as memories of a Willy in Sunnydale came forward through the fog.

Here We Go
Josiah adjusted his glasses before reaching out to pick up the next stack of books. He quickly walked towards the shipping crates outside the book return shelf to deposit them in the box. Ignoring the looks of the two remaining team scooby, he moved back into his office to grab the next stack. When he came out again, they were still sitting at the one table in the center of the library. "What are you two doing here? I thought both of you had a medical curfew."
"We want to be here with you." JD said watching Josiah.
"Why are you even out of bed? Your broken ribs and leg should have kept you laid up for a while. And to bring Casey out on a night like this, you should know better than this, JD, I am very disappointed in you." Heading back into his office, his back remained ramrod straight.
"Because want to know what's going on, we are part of this to."
"Correction, you were a part of that, however that is no more." Sighing, Josiah took off his glasses and polished them furiously. "Good god I am sounding like you children all the time now. Perhaps this is for the best."
"It's not over. Josiah, Sunnydale is still the hellmouth." JD insisted.
"Don't you think I know that! How could you think that I have forgotten the most damnedable existence of that bloody gateway to hell? There were ten of us a year-ago, ten!" Stomping up to tower over JD, Josiah held up both hands, folding down each finger as he counted them off. "Shall I refresh your memory? The first to fall was Jesse, dead at the hands of the Master when he distracted that monster long enough for you to free Sarah when he tried to use her during the sacrifice. Second was Chris when he slept with Sarah, his demon released, he took out third loss, Ms. Calendar! Next we move on to Sarah and Steven Travis, son of Senior Council member Orin Travis. Travis disappeared when he joined Sarah, Xander, Cordelia, you, and Ms. Wells to rescue me from the clutches of that damned beast Christos!
"Then Sarah died after sending Christos to hell and nearly miscarrying their son Adam, whom would never have existed had it not been for the Master's intervention. After that it is a literal blood bath as Ms. Chase is drained into a tub, dismembered, and left floating in her own fluids. In retaliation you three so foolishly summon forces you could not possibly hope to contain, let alone understand and decided to bury the Hellmouth and all its inhabitants. The ensuing battle to stop you costs us Xander to who knows what god forsaken Hell Dimension, your ribs and leg, and parts of Ms. wells spinal cord!" Screaming in the now teary eyed young man's face, Josiah curled his fingers in order to prevent them from strangling him. "Is that all or shall I think up more for you, Mr. Dunne?"
JD looked away as tears ran down his face.
Standing up straight again, Josiah put back on his glasses. "I think it is time you left, not just here, but Sunnydale as well. If the ritual fails tonight..." Shaking his head, he looked away. "I suggest you take Ms. Wells and go stay with some relatives far from the Hellmouth for a while, Mr. Dunne."
"I don't' have any." JD whispered softly.
"Then you will be coming with me!" Josiah looked over at Casey and raised an eyebrow.
"He's staying with me." Casey stated.
"Then both of you will be coming with me! When I am through here we will go by your house and get your things, but we must do it quickly!" Josiah rushed back into his office and grabbed the last stack of books. Not caring how they landed, he tossed them into the crate and then put the lid on top. With a wave of his hand, the nails in the wood sunk in and sealed the box. He spoke a few words and the box suddenly disappeared. He frowned at where the box had been in thought. Looking up, he was about to say something when the doors to the library burst open. Josiah stared at the young black man who came through the doors with outrage. "Who the bloody hell are you?"
The young man walked up to the older man.
"Who are you?"
Josiah held up his hand, a white energy ball forming in his palm. "JD, get Casey's chair, we are leaving. I don't know who or what you are, but I suggest you get out of our way or else."
Than glared at the man. "I've come looking from someone."
"Who would that be?" Josiah stepped forward, slowly moving towards the library doors.
"The thing that killed my gang. I was told you could help." Than watched the man.
"There is nothing I can do to help you. I do not know who told you this, but they were mistaken. I am sorry for your loss. Now if you will excuse me, we must be going." Moving forward, he gestured for JD wheel Casey out of the Library.
JD looked down at Casey then began to push her out.
The doors of the Library opened once more, this time to be held that way by two burly men. As they moved off to the side to allow them to remain opened, Orin Travis, Mubahtu, Ezra, and seven other people in business suits entered. They dragged behind them a vampire in chains. Ezra walked up to stand next in front of Josiah, a smirk lighting his features. "You weren't planning on goin anywhere, Watcher, were you?"
"And if I was?" Josiah questioned looking him straight in the eyes.
Than, having jumped over the book return desk when the doors opened, watched covertly through the deposit slot.
Ezra glanced the watcher up and down, taking in the energy ball ready to be released. "Were you expecting company?"
"It don't matter." Josiah dissipating the ball. "What do you want?"
"A little change of plans. You and the other slayer wannabes are needed for the ritual and it has to take place over the Hellmouth since this was the damned town in which that bitch died." Undoing the two lower buttons on his suit jacket, Ezra pulled it open and then off his shoulders to hand off to one of the other suits. "Lets get this damn show on the road."
"Watch what you are saying about her." Josiah growled. "You don't know us, especially the two injured kids."
"Listen closely, Mr. Sanchez, for I will only say this once. We only need your heads for this spell." Bending his arm across his chest, he balled his fist around a blade that suddenly appeared from his sleeve. The blade grew into a sword with a flash of silver. "Now sit down and shut up."
"Then let the kids go." Josiah stepped back, but didn't sit down.
"No can do, they knew things about Slayer Bitch that you didn't. The spell calls for all those who knew who the slayer was. Since you are the only three left, it will have to do." Ezra brought the sword up to Josiah's throat. "At this point it is only a matter of where your head will rest while the spell is cast."
Josiah sat down and glared at him.
"Now that that's settled, lets get to it." He began undoing his collar, then pulled the tie from around his neck. His shirt buttons were next, followed by his pants. When he had stripped down to his undershirt and boxers, he glanced at their shocked looks while taking them off too. "If you do not mind, Mr. Travis, please place the knife on the table in front of me." His boxers hit the floor as he stepped out of his pants, shoes and socks.
Josiah cleared his throat. "I thought we were doing a spell, a striptease."
"I have been volunteered by my employers to play the part of tonight's virgin sacrifice." Allowing the last of his clothes to be taken away by one of the flunkies in a suit, Ezra stood at parade rest. He allowed them to view his body, unashamed of his muscle tone and form. "Mr. Travis, now or never."
Travis placed the ritual dagger in front of Ezra as he begins to chant.
Closing his eyes, Ezra tuned out the annoying secondary chanting of the people as they echoed his own words. "Blood of the one unite with the flesh of the untouched to form a guide that shall lead us to the next." He began repeating the phrase in half a dozen different languages, each one required to gain the favor of the different locator demon gods. Rolling his eyes after he finished the seventh and final verse, he raised his arms and waited. Nothing happened. He waited another five minutes and then turned to glare at the suited flunkies. "Who wasn't chanting properly?"
"I was doing it right." One of his men said, looking at the others.
"Right." Ezra nodded to the burly guard behind the flunky, smiling as the flunky's head was severed from his body. "Let's try this again, only stick with me...." He looked down at the dagger tip penetrating his stomach. Wide eyed, he looked up again as his they turned solid white. A sudden bolt of energy shot through out his body and he writhed in agony. Screaming, he was too busy trying to bare the pain to even acknowledge he was floating up. The energy rushing through his body continued to build until he felt his body Disintegrate in an explosion.
Travis stepped back as the white area expanded.
His thoughts came back in chaos, there was so much pain he couldn't even focus. His first rational thought was that he should be dead. Ezra's second was that when he hit that wall, he was going to wish he was dead. Having reformed after dissolving was bad enough, but did they have to shoot him like a bullet at a fucking brick wall? Impact took even that from him. Once he collided with the wall, conscious was no more.
Everyone watched the expanding area of solid white light. Travis made sure he was outside of the area.
Josiah felt his head ache, something was ransacking his memory, showing him each one in fast forward. He made himself look to Casey and JD as they too were holding their heads and whimpering. The spell tugged at everything he knew about Sarah. From those few early moments when he first saw the remarkable young woman she could be to the those precious few seconds he prayed she would save him from Christos even though he knew it was a futile gesture. Everything was wrenched from his mind and left him rocking in his chair weeping like a child.
The white glow grew even more intense if that was possible. Then there was a small blob that became a human form that. That solidified into a person that fell to the ground in a heap. The being was naked, it had blonde hair and male.
Coming to himself, Ezra blinked a few times as his head swam. "Well, that was most unpleasant." He felt a slight tugging at his consciousness, almost as if he wasn't completely awake. "Well, gentlemen, did you get what you wanted?"
The blonde male moved slowly.
Ezra was about to say more when his attention was abruptly focused on the figure in the center of the library. "What the hell is that?"
Travis stared at the man on the floor before looking at Ezra in surprise. "Don't know."
"Then I suggest you find... out. Why is he looking at me like that?" The obviously male figure had held his head up and was now looking at Ezra with hungry eyes. "Don't," was all he had time to get out before the other figure was on him. Ezra tried to fight him off but he was too strong. His arms were soon forced to his sides as he was pinned against the wall. "A little help?" Then he was crying out in pain again as the vampire was biting into his throat.
The big men grabbed the hungry vampire, one on each of his arms.
Ezra screamed as the Vampire's teeth wore into his throat as they tried to pull it off him. "Use a fucking cross, you morons!"
Travis after his initial shock wore off, ran over and place a cross between Ezra and the vampire..
The vampire back handed all three off of him and pulled the lawyer closer to him. Looking up, he focused yellow eyes on them from his demon visage. The creature in his arms belonged to him and they were trying to take it from him. He wasn't about to let that happen. Throwing the struggling lawyer over his shoulder, he sped from the library bypassing all but two of the flunkies who he slammed hard enough to break their necks. He ran out down the hall, through a pair of double glass doors and into the night. Bellowing his presence into the night, he shook the still struggling lawyer and ran off.
Travis sat up. "What the hell's going on?" He growled.
The vampire they had brought with them shook her head in laughter as she removed the last of her chains. Ella's face shifted back to human. A dribble of blood on her cheek was all that remained of the other four suited flunkies. "Well, I can't say this hasn't been fun, because then I'd be lying." Adjusting her new power suit, she fluffed her bottle blonde hair over her collar. "Thanks for bringing back my darling boy, I am sure he will want to thank all of you personally." With another quick cackle, she walked out through the same doors Chris had taken Ezra.
"Do you know what the hell you have done?" Josiah demanded still stunned at what had happened.
Travis shook his head in disgust. "That was the correct spell, however, those were not the results promised."
"You have succeed in bring back that vampire that killed Sarah." Josiah stood though he had to hold on to something to keep from falling.
"Sit down, Josiah!" Ignoring the younger watcher, Travis began walking out of the library, gesturing for Mubahtu to follow him. "We must get the warlocks on this immediately, see what they can come up with about this."
Josiah rolled his eyes and looked at the two young people that had been part of so much tragedy.
JD stood up on his feet, then looked down in shock. He could stand up straight, the brace wasn't even in place anymore. "Josiah, what happened?"
"Besides the spell letting Christos out of hell I'm not sure, but I'm going to find out." Josiah looked around to see what damage was done, then walked over to Casey.
JD reached out to steady himself on Casey's chair. She was groggily adjusting her position, but her legs still weren't moving he noted with sadness. "It's not fair, Josiah. It fixed me, but she's still..." He didn't complete it, just turned away as she moaned in pain again. "I gotta go, Mr. Sanchez, I gotta..." He gestured over his shoulder with his thumb. "Need to run, clear my head." His eyes were already glowing green.
"Go, but be back soon." Josiah bent down in front of Casey.
Nodding, he pulled his shirt over his head, noting the bandages from around his ribs were also gone. His ears started to elongate and he shucked his pants and briefs in the same direction of his shirt. By the time he hit the parking lot, he was already in wolf form and at top run out of there. So happy to be running for the first time in a month that he didn't even realize he was being followed, that his chaser was gaining speed and was soon upon him. One moment he was flying down the sidewalk towards the woods and the next he was being held in the air by something's fist. "Bad dog!" Then he was out like a light.
