Perhaps you're asleep. Perhaps you're walking through a door. Maybe you've just closed your eyes for a moment, maybe you're daydreaming, maybe you're not paying attention, maybe even you've just died. However it happens, it happens. You take that step through, you open your eyes, you look around. And you're not where you were a moment ago.
Welcome to the Network.
Right now, you'll find yourself in a hospital room. Something seems to be missing, though. Maybe it's the lack of that distinctive hospital smell, or the fact that there's no beeping machines. In fact, other than a bed and the small table next to it, there's nothing in the room. Or maybe that's not it at all. Maybe it's that you don't have a chart at the end of your bed. Or that there doesn't seem to be any doctors and nurses walking around, and you're free to get up and roam as you please. You'll even see, once you leave your personal room, that you're not the only one. Some of the rooms you pass seem normal enough as you walk down the hall. More private rooms, some comfortable-looking waiting rooms. Even an abandoned nurses' station, and signs pointing to the cafeteria on the ground floor. Except -- wait, was that really a gym you just passed? A computer lab? A theater?
Don't worry, you'll get used to it. You'll have to. The Network doesn't give you much of a choice.
