Backdated -- Sent a few weeks ago, in the beginning of May.
Mr. Whitby,
While I hope this letter finds you in good health, I feel it is best to cut to the chase. This is Susan's father writing.
I have spent much time considering the events which occurred over Easter last month, and while Susan explained to me in great detail how every moment of it was her fault, I felt I must contact you nonetheless, if only to express sentiments I am sure Susan is far too sweet to pass along to you, despite our lengthy talk on the matter.
As you know, Aaron, Susan's condition does place certain limitations on her, and though she chose to ignore those limitations that weekend, she has since explained her reasoning to me. While I do not agree with it, at the very least I understand it. What I cannot understand is why you, who I had placed my trust in, behaved as you did.
You have been a dear friend of Susan's for years, and I thought you had more regard for her health and safety than that. You have disappointed me, Aaron, and while it is not my place to reprimand you, I cannot in clear conscience keep silent when it is clear my daughter still counts you her closest friend.
Perhaps Susan made her own choices that night and I do not absolve her of her role in it, but so too did you. Susan may not blame you for the events of the evening, but I believe you displayed a selfish disregard for my daughter that I cannot reconcile with the boy I thought I knew.
I truly hope you have something to say for yourself which may explain just why things got so dangerously out of hand.
