She wasn't paying attention, not really, lost in thoughts about nothing in particular, letting her mind wander as aimlessly as her feet seemed to. She pressed a stray lock of dark hair behind one ear, fingers no longer trailing the wall, falling to her side when she'd taken care of that. Dark eyes focused on the hall ahead of her, the floor mostly, or what she could see of it, and she was very nearly upon the other student before she realized he was there.
"Oh," she managed, though she still had the presence of mind to keep her voice quiet, and an eyebrow raised minimally as the light from her wand illuminated his face further as well as her own when she lifted it ever so slightly before her.
"Lurking in shadows are we, Avery?" she asked, lips curving into a slight smile, though she was still slightly unnerved to find him just standing there. Still, he didn't need to know that, did he?
