She expected it. Had been expecting it, but was still startled when it happened. When she felt the press of his mouth to her own, his lips touching, pressing at hers.
For a second, perhaps two, her lips remained still. Her entire body, actually, had stilled, frozen in place, before she regained movement. Like a silence suddenly broken, she returned his kiss tenderly, curiously, exploring the feel of his lips with her own. Her body shifted, pressing closer to his, her arms tightening just a little around him.
We shouldn't, she thought, though it wasn't because she didn't want to. She did want to, she realized quite suddenly. She did want this. But all the same, her back tightened and tingled as if there was someone just behind her, ready to unleash a hex on her.
Was this it then? Was this what they became now? From estranged friends to lovers? Or was that too bold? Perhaps this was ... a fluke. An overcompensation. An experiment. They'd see, she supposed.
Her lips parted slightly, the tip of her tongue teasingly touching at his upper lip before she opened her eyes, peering at his face so close to her own to try to see his reaction.
