Mary slowly withdrew her licorice wand and took a bite out of it, leaning back against her seat, her eyes going up to the window, puzzled.
"Really? You know, I'd rather be more concerned with fingerprints if I was the conductor. Do you suppose he's the one that has to wash the windows or is it that little witch who comes by with the pumpkin pasties?"
It was meant to be a joke, although, really, even though she had no idea what he was on about, she didn't imagine much could be worse than firstie's sticky fingers.
