Lucius nodded. "Be relieved that you realized that, below the surface, some friendships can be more detrimental than they're worth. Many people can go through their entire life not knowing the difference between a trusted ally and someone who would sell you out to your enemies at their first convenience."
He itched to speak in specifics to Severus, but he knew that the Dark Lord might not be pleased if he took recruitment into his own hands, or worse, spilled info that would implicate specific Death Eaters. It was certainly exciting to think about, however, he knew Severus was gifted with magic and could be very useful to the cause... and it seemed he had enough motivation to join, from what Lucius had observed.
