Pepper busied herself looking for paper clip in the top drawer of her desk in order to clip all of her papers together, while Tony sat down and got comfortable in the chair on the other side of her desk. Her ears caught the sound of ‘Rotterdam’ and she looked up, slightly confused. “I thought I mentioned last night that I wasn’t going to go.” He had a penchant for tuning things out when he was busy or lost in in his own thoughts, so it wouldn’t surprise her in the least that he either had forgotten or really hadn’t heard her. “I have so much going on here and the trip wasn’t that important. But I will take that dinner, if you can give ten minutes to clean up here. There is nothing pressing here that I can’t leave for tomorrow.”
Trip or no, Tony was offering a little alone time that she wasn’t going to say no to.
She got up and walked around the desk to stand in front of him, leaning back and using the edge to support herself and smiled, noting the bit of tension in her boyfriend’s face. “You look a little troubled, everything okay?”
