Normally, we'd be doing an activity check tomorrow AM for the period between 11/15 and 11/30, but considering the holiday and IJ having a number of outage periods during this timeframe, we decided to apply a forgiveness rule for anybody who doesn't make check for this period.

Please note that this will not be an extended activity check and everyone will need to update their characters between 12/1 and 12/15.

I know there are not many of you, currently. But I did want to point out that it is approaching the end of August which means it's back-to-school time at Xavier's. If your kids went away for the summer, get them back. If your teachers thought they feeling very relaxed, think again! And above all, take a few minutes to fill out there class schedule for 2013-2014.

(Side Note: If you don't have an X-Student, consider picking one up! Having fully matriculated one, I can say with certainty that they're fun and full of shenanigans!)

We were late getting out our usual reminder, and for some reason this activity check was real weird in terms of people's availability, so we're enacting a single clemency date on activity check.

What does this mean for you?

If you are not hiatus'd and you failed to get any of your characters updated by midnight US Pactific time yesterday, then you have until Midnight US Pacific time tonight to get them updated. For the inactive, those scenes will be marked as having happened on the 15th (so active characters can go ahead and still post today and it will be counted towards your next check period)

On another note! (And this applies to people who probably aren't going to read this but still I press onward...) Hiatuses. If you need to take a hiatus you need to either email the mods or drop us a note in the dropbox. We recommend leaving an OOC note for the benefit of the community of players at large, but we do need to write down when you're going to be away so we don't just assume you've gone dark on us and want to run away from the game. (We err on the side of assuming you don't hate us, but active rules are activity rules.)

In addition to that, please always note a DATE until which you will be hiatused. Sometimes we're slow to write back confirmation about the hiatus, but you can always see if it was marked down by looking next to your name on activity check (which is where we write the date until which you will be hiatused).

Hi everyone! Stacey and Marissa here.

A number of things happened to your mods recently in RL, so we were pretty delayed in starting our plot. We are gathering the materials and feedback you have already given, and nailing down a timeline for the plot. With that in mind, we wanted to check in and make sure that this plot is something people are still interested in going through. It's your game as much as ours, and we want to make sure to the best of our ability that everyone is happy! Here are some of the details:

WHAT: Superheroes have been doing their job well! Supervillains hate that. Trying to cash in on a need in the supervillain community, Dr. Faustus hires a handful of villains (PC and NPC) to create dysfunction among the superhero community.

WHEN: Kickoff date TBD, but we want the major thrust of the plot to last no longer than 1 month.

WHY: We wanted this to be an opportunity to create shakeups and give players more opportunity to do crazy things with their characters that don't exist in the game currently.

If you can just drop us a note letting us know whether you're interested or if you feel like this will interfere with your gameplay currently. Feel free to also let us know of any plot ideas you want to do or would rather do. All comments are screened.

I also wanted to direct your attention back to this plot post, which will greatly help Stacey and myself finish writing the upcoming plot in a way that will be fun for all. Still haven't heard back about some characters (including some of my own, oops), and this is a good chance for new players/characters to look over the post and give their thoughts.

So the last time we fully touched upon it was in January, but it's time to revisit the Great Shakeup. We took the notes and feedback you gave us on this last post and for the sake of giving the plot some structure and clarity we have developed what we affectionately refer to as Superhero Debate Club (yes, Marissa watched too much King of the Nerds when she came up with this idea) which is a series of questions to think about as your characters.

Keep in mind that the ultimate goal of this plot is to shake up the status quo of our superheroes and their groups. The bolder choices that are made, the more you will get out of this plot, and that includes ensuring that every argument is represented by someone on each side. If your character can get to a more extreme position with a little nudge, let us know! We have some NPCs at our disposal who are specifically looking to cause that kind of mayhem.

Here are the questions that we've concocted to give you a starting point. We've also added some bullet points to think about in regards to each. In the comments, please describe how your character might feel about some of these issues (especially the ones they feel the strongest about)!

How aligned with the government are the Avengers?( (examples) )

How much autonomy should the Avengers have outside the government?( (examples) )

Is there such a thing as a mutant too dangerous to be saved?( (examples) )

Was Cyclops right to force the adults at the school to register and to force cooperation?( (examples) )

Has Xavier or Magneto shown the better clarity of vision?( (examples) )

Also, if you have a debate topic we may have missed or further examples that would be relevant for players to consider, drop us a comment!
