His simple denial of what she'd said had Dylan echoing him. "What?" because it really wasn't as if you could just say 'no' and the universe would bend itself to your will because if that was the case, man would she be living a different life right now. But then he stopped at a door, and even more than what he said (though that set off the lightbulb in her head) was the tone in which he said it that had her heart breaking for him, and just like that, her wariness dissipated and she stepped closer to lay a hand lightly on his bicep.
"Hey, take a breath," she said, voice low and calm. "Were you one of the people who was here before?" It was the only thing that made sense, because those people had totally been in long enough to form relationships. And to wake up with one half missing must've been real shitty. "Okay so long story short, a group of us showed up and this place was empty but there are a couple people here who were from your group, or at least what I assume was your group, keep getting put back in here. Do the names Felix or Audrey or Levi or Marco mean anything to you? Because they're all here, so maybe it's just that your boyfriend isn't back from wherever they had you all yet."
She was lightly rubbing his arm in an attempt to comfort, hoping he wasn't the fainting type because she wasn't sure she could catch him if he went down and he was tall so that was a long way to the ground. "My name is Dylan," she added, planning to shut up so he could hopefully digest her explanation. "It's going to be okay."
