when the sun came up Who: Harper Where: Marker 4, the carport When: 10:24AM
Despite Harper's broken sleep all through the night after Marco had been taken, she was strangely groggy and non-fearful as soon as light dawned in the sky. She left the shed to use the bathroom in the woods outside, and she would have thought she'd be panicking at every sound. Oddly enough, instead she nearly dozed back off while she was squatting and trying to keep her feet and pants out of the newly damp grass beneath her. In her mostly somnolent state the only thing she could think of to do was go back into the shed for some more sleep.
Later she'd probably wonder if she'd lost her mind, but that was for later, right?
Finally she awakened again, and the first thing she noticed was the shed had an actual door again. The next was how dirty she was; her clothes and hands were smudged with dirt and other unidentifiable ick. No surprise there given her evening running through the woods, hiding in a broken down truck and then in here. For the hundredth time she wondered if Marco was all right, and she futilely reached for the phone that wasn't in her pocket. Oh. Yep, she was indeed in the middle of nowhere alone without any way to contact anyone or to know if she was going the right way. Awesome.
With a little sigh, Harper left the shed, standing in front of the carport and gazing around her. Despite having grown up with a very back-to-nature type of family, she'd never been taught anything about seeing which way the sun went to determine one's path or looking at moss on trees or whatever, so she was on her own.
"At least it's light out," she mumbled doubtfully to herself. Surely she could get back to the barn before darkness fell again. There was nothing for her to do but try, so she picked a direction at random and took off.
