It did take Oliver a minute, but he got it, his expression sobering a little. "Yeah, I get it. And I know." He wasn't really sure what to say for a moment, trying to get his brain to focus a little more properly, knowing how important this was. "What about...putting that money towards something that's gonna help long term. With those things, I mean. Something we can rely on, somethin'...that's gonna be more useful to you, and to other people."
"Any markers we named They'd probably mess with. It's probably worth trying though," Chase muttered, his gaze moving to the ground as he chewed thoughtfully on the inside of his lower lip. The mention of the red mark didn't make him want to touch his face this time, which he supposed was progress, but he wanted to look at hers.
"I can't believe he tried-" he started, then stopped, then reiterated. "I mean, I can believe he tried, but that's so dumb." He wasn't sure if he could say he'd do anything differently if Kiley was concerned, and part of him was grateful to Scotty for trying, but still. Dumb.
