Chase chewed his lip. Having other people was great, but the center was so far away, and he didn't much about know how defensible it was. He opened his mouth to speak before Owen pointed out the stairs, and he stiffened, stepping completely off them in a rush, as if the thing that had made them might magically manifest.
"I...um..." he started, trying to jump start his brain. Owen asking him felt big, and he didn't want to flounder. "I don't know a lot about the nature center except that it's far. If people keep coming here, and, I mean, I think they will, having someplace nearby as a safe zone might help pepper more, but it probably means the monsters are going to keep coming around here. And we don't know if any of those things are following Pam. If they are we're right on the path they are and we might have a bigger chance of running into them. I think it might be safer to go on the opposite direction, if...that makes sense. If we don't go they might not be able to defend it very well, though...do you know how far ahead they are? Maybe they're close enough that we could catch up."
