Owen took the bag from Chase, slipping the strap over his shoulder before pulling out his phone. He had been so focused on getting their things together that he hadn't even checked to see if the network was even working. There was a flicker of relief in his eyes when Pam's message appeared. "Pam," he said. "She said the house isn't safe and she's with Felix and Edwin headed for the nature center. Apparently the GPS isn't working." Fantastic. Owen sighed and brought his gaze up from the phone to look at Chase expectantly. "What'd you think? Take our chances and head for the nature center?"
Tobias appeared, feeling way too nervous to be left alone in the kitchen. But he heard their conversation and approached, brows furrowed together as he frowned. "I guess that's not too far, right?" He was trying to figure out the distance when he noticed the stairs behind Chase. "Uh... those claw marks weren't there before, right?" He's pretty sure they would have all noticed if they had been. No wonder Pam said the house wasn't safe.
