"I think it would be okay to take one," Owen said, still eying the house. "We're dealing with some unusual circumstances, Chase. At least unusual for this place. I think people would understand. We don't even know who's been here and who hasn't yet. For all we know people are seeing the house empty and going somewhere else to hide. The tower, the gas station... let's check things out and grab what we can." He had no idea about the cats though, and he didn't want to say anything about them that might upset Chase, so he began to walk instead, ready to check around the house before taking their chances inside.
"I'm sure the cats are fine," Tobias murmured to Chase. "They're probably hiding under a bed somewhere. Or maybe they were taken out of the house for tonight by Them so they wouldn't get lost, you know?"
