Owen had no idea if blankets over the windows would keep those things out, but he supposed if they couldn't see people inside, maybe they wouldn't even attempt to enter. He would prefer to stay in the lodge, but he understood if they had to retreat to another building, like coming back to the mill. It was possible there were others in the house right now, gathering supplies or formulating a plan. He hated not having his phone to communicate with them, especially Oliver.
"Let's get to the lodge and see what we're dealing with," Owen said, turning away from the door. "Gas, cooking oil, the torches. We should grab some food too, in case we're out here for a while. With any luck, we'll run into some of the others. Strength in numbers and all that. If we have to come back here, we'll hang blankets on the windows. Are those torches ready?" He was starting to get restless, not knowing what was going on. Even if the the lodge was abandoned, at least they would know for sure.
