"I got it," Chase replied when they came in, the two long halves of the towel stretched out in front of him along with a few thin strips to tie them off once they were on the sticks. He was dousing the lengths of them in the oil as best as he could in the dark, not entirely sure if he was missing spots as he went. "I think that's all we need. This won't take long."
He made a grabby hand gesture for one of the sticks to start the first one, figuring that getting at least one lit for now would be better to finish the other one properly. The gesture froze in the air at the sound of a distant, familiar shriek, unable to tell which direction it was coming from, but fairly certain it was far enough away that it wasn't meant for them. That didn't do much for the chill in his blood, particularly considering that was now irrefutable proof they weren't alone in the woods.
