"Yeah, well, maybe they turned off the lights so it would be harder for us to find our way back, and... yeah, we have to turn them back on," Kiley said. She was just trying to find any non-dangerous reason for the house to be so dark. Scotty was right though. The lights had never attracted the monsters before. Or maybe they had but there was that protective barrier around the place. Was that turned off too? If it was electric, or whatever. The adrenaline she had been feeling slowly shifted into apprehension as she studied the dark building.
"I feel fine," she told Scotty as she started for the house. "I mean, I don't feel like I need to puke or anything, so I take that as a win. I can tell my legs are going to be rubber tomorrow though." She eyed him in the dark. "You sound like a personal trainer, by the way. It's kind of weird."
