Kiley was trying to stay alert as well, occasionally forgetting to breathe because she was afraid it might hear her. There were no other screams, so maybe it moved on. She still felt too tense to relax, but as long as they were moving, Kiley felt like she would be okay. It wasn't the best plan they had, but it was better than nothing. It wasn't like they had a lot of options right now anyway.
She stayed low, not caring if she was in the front or back. That thing could come out of nowhere and get them both, so what did it matter? "No, I don't hear anything," Kiley whispered back to Scotty. "As much as it sucks, maybe it saw or heard someone else and is gone now." She obviously didn't want anyone else getting hurt, or taken, but that meant she and Scotty were mostly okay. "Should we run?"
