"It's okay," Felix told her, not really sure he meant it but definitely not sure what else to say. He also didn't know what to do with the hand in his, but he didn't shake it off even though that little voice in his head was telling him it was going to be harder to make a run for it if it came down to that. Would his suit even work? The monster had found him just fine, but he'd also hadn't been all that quiet as he was getting ready, choosing speed over care. And hadn't They said something about proximity, or something like that? The suit would probably work, just not in the situation he'd been in. Everyone else was probably fucked, Lila included if she couldn't get to her.
Lennon's probably still out there, his brain chimed in. Probably wandering around looking for his friends like a big idiot.
He nodded as he started edging towards the house, not letting go as he aimed them towards the game room door, glancing up at the house and trying to pinpoint where he'd be standing in relation to the windows up there. The hallway was right across from the windows right above the porch, so if there weren't any windows and he needed to book it if the stairs became a no-go, he could do that alright. He wouldn't have a weapon if he didn't go into the kitchen first, but if he didn't want to start out alone then Pam definitely needed dry clothes first. He wasn't going to offer any of his just to keep up appearances in case he needed them later.
One good thing about there not being any doors was that he didn't have to worry about the noise. He led the way up onto the porch, glancing around the familiar surroundings, and the couch he'd slept on a couple weeks earlier with only a screen door protecting him from whatever was outside. Fucking stupid. He took a heartbeat to swipe a deck of cards off left on the chess table, figuring that he could play alone or with Pam if they got somewhere quiet and seemingly safe, so they wouldn't get bored as fuck, then carefully poked his head into the main room. In the dark, with no windows or doors, it looked almost alien. The coast seemed clear though, so he stepped out enough for her to pass him, gesturing with his head for her to go to the stairs so he could follow and watch behind them for anything that might come through the multiple entryways. He hated everything about this, but he supposed there was probably more cover here than there would be out in the woods for now, even if their maneuverability was shit. He tried to not think about the fact that he was maneuverability. He wasn't a fucking fighter, he wasn't a defense guy, what the hell was he supposed to do here but run?
