The plan had been that once Oliver came into view, Edwin would shoot him in the arm, or the leg, or maybe the butt if he was feeling brave. In this plan, however, Oliver would be walking over, probably trying to be stealthy so maybe he'd get the first shot instead. There was no plan for if Oliver rode up on some kind of all-terrain vehicle. Of all the weird, unexplained things that popped up here, his boyfriend showing up while on a literal joyride wasn't one of them.
He understood the giddiness now, though, so that was a relief.
While he still knew he'd end up trying to shoot at his boyfriend, that very quickly became a later thing. He shifted so his legs hung down from the branch, giving away his hiding spot, and while he knew it wasn't a far drop, he hadn't convinced himself to jump down yet. It gave his boyfriend a clue of where he was, though, so he could turn and come get him, and he'd hopefully be close enough to hear Edwin speak over the motor.
"Are you kidding?" he called out cheerfully. "What... How? What's happening here?"
