Who: Pam, Harper, & Ivy When: Probably around noon? Where: On the way to Marker 4
Pam hadn't brought one of the weird "monster-proof" tents with her. She'd thought about it, but the spot that she and the girls were heading to really wasn't too far. She was pretty sure she'd walked further to find Jack when he'd gone missing the other day. It shouldn't have annoyed her, and hell, it really was a blessing to know that they could come back and find things tomorrow if they didn't today rather than have to sleep out there, but after her little argument with Oliver, it felt like he'd had the victory on that one. She'd offered to take a different marker, and to let Oliver take her spot in this group, but he'd stubbornly refused and decided to do his own thing, suggesting that someone would probably get hurt in the process while he did. So he was being kind of a jerk that day.
Since he'd pretty much ignored her offer, Pam had attempted to try and just brush it off, and have a nice time with the girls who she'd chosen to travel with. She knew she liked Ivy, and after fishing with her she'd meant to hang out with her more. Harper seemed like a sweet girl, maybe a little young for her to hang out with regularly, but sweet. She wanted Harper to feel liked, at the very least, and she hoped that she could at least get that across during the day.
But she still kept coming back to the argument, alternating between not wanting to talk about it, and hoping that ranting would make her feel better. "I can't believe he called me an ass," she said, not for the first time during their walk. They'd left a while ago already, and Pam was glad that they'd made it a point to eat before they left the house, so they hadn't had to break into their food supplies yet. Or their first aid, knock on wood. "Like, I understand not wanting people to get hurt, and it's not like I asked anyone to throw themselves into the canyon all willy-nilly! I'm not even the one who put the lanterns over there, thank you very much! All I said was that we had to at least look. How mortifying. Like I'm asking so much by suggesting that we try to see if we can get something. Which! By the way! Which will totally help safety! Our biggest problems are The Powers That Be, and the monsters, and this would keep us safe from one of those! Like... Am I wrong? Because I don't feel like I'm wrong."
She was pretty sure she was rambling and needed to let this go at this point, but she just hadn't been expecting to be challenged for doing the normal organization post. And it was easy to keep thinking about it when their walk was, so far, pretty uneventful and not as scenic as she would have liked. Just lots of trees.
