Hearing that Edwin thought she was cool as a bit strange. She had never considered herself cool, at least not in the way she would have defined it. Opinionated and aimless, more than anything. Sometimes she wondered who she might have been if she'd grown up in a different house with different parents. But it was silly to dwell on what if. Kiley was who she was, and she couldn't change anything now.
His question about college prompted her to bark out a short laugh. "College was never an option for me. I fucked around in high school too much and I had no desire to do more school when I was done. Even if I could have gone, I really had no idea what to do with my life after high school. I still don't, to be honest. Not that I have to worry about that now." Kiley blew a soft raspberry between her lips before nudging his foot with hers. "Did you go to college? Like a watch making college?"
