Kiley scrunched up her nose briefly, still completely focused on making sure Edwin's nails looked perfect. She was a bit lazy with her own nails when she was painting them, but she wasn't about to do a crappy job with Edwin's. Kiley knew how coveted things were in this place, even bottles of nail polish. No need to waste any of it.
"And were you sassy?" Kiley asked, her lips twitching. "Did you live up to the stereotype to make everyone like you?" She realized how that might be taken and Kiley glanced up at him. "I just mean, was it easier for you to be that way in high school? I had a couple of gay friends who weren't like that at all and they were generally treated like shit."
