"No, no," Oliver shook his head. "It wasn't anything like that. They found someone. Someone who was here before. A girl named Lila. She was taken out of the house a while ago. Weeks before the big gap where all the people who were here before were knocked out, then you guys showed up. She woke up in one of the boxes out there."
He shifted a little on his feet, his mouth working for a second as he tried to figure out how to approach the rest, figuring that once the news was out there everything that came after it might not be so easy to focus on. "When people get taken out and brought back, sometimes they remember where they were while they were gone, at least for part of it. We've had that happen a few times now. We don't...really know how it works. One guy said he was in a cabin on a beach with a robot who was takin' care of him. Someone else thought they were in some kind of club in a tower, or something to that effect. We don't know how lucid people are, or how much of it real, or somethin' more like when we get those specters in the house. We know They're capable of all sorts of things we can't explain. And that's not just limited to illusions. We've also seen them do plenty of other things. Put us places we couldn't possibly be. We celebrated New Years in a skyscraper in New York.....and They fix people up. I've been hurt bad, Edwin's been hurt worse, but you'd never know it lookin' at us. So...keep in mind that while I don't think Lila is wrong with what she experienced, we don't know what's actually goin' on for sure because of the kinds of games They can play. Alright?"
